SUMMARY

Pacific Clay Products, a brick manufacturing company in Lake Elsinore, CA is seeking a highly motivated full time industrial maintenance mechanic to plan, direct and perform maintenance and repair of buildings, equipment and machinery. This is a union position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Diagnoses need for repairs and determines methods, means and personnel needed to carry out repairs.

Makes repairs on installations from oral instructions, repair order or plant shop sketches.

Replaces or repairs bearings, sleeves, chains, etc.

Assists in installing motors, pumps, valves, etc.

Replaces gaskets and seals in hydraulic and air units.

Plumbing and pipe fitting repairs.

Metal and wood fabricating.

Mixes and pours concrete.

Other duties may be assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge of function and operation of plant machinery and equipment. Knowledge of industrial plumbing, metal work, machinery maintenance. Ability to use hand and power tools. Ability to plan and direct maintenance repairs on a variety of industrial buildings and equipment. Ability to give clear instructions.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to communicate with employees and supervisors in English. Ability to read, interpret and act on written orders. Ability to understand and follow company procedures. Ability to read plans and blueprints.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to use hands to finger, handle or grip objects, tools or controls and talk, walk and hear. The employee is constantly required to stand and occasionally sit and walk. Will frequently lift and carry up to 50 lbs, will occasionally lift and carry up to 80 lbs. Will operate forklift and other vehicles. Will frequently twist and turn while driving manual transmission forklift. Will operate a variety of hand and power tools.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The ability to hear oral conversations, telephone calls and loudspeaker announcements are required for this position.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The employee will work indoors and outdoors. The employee is exposed to wind, dust and occasionally rain. Adverse conditions include high heat, humidity and cold. The employee will wear hearing protection and eye protection. The employee will work with various chemicals, oils and greases.

Successful candidate must submit to a post offer pre-employment physical exam, drug screen and background check.
