Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control Authority’s (VA ABC) Real Estate and Facilities Management is seeking a Maintenance Repair Technician to install and remove retail store fixtures. This position will support Trade Technicians IV in all phases of maintenance in retail stores, regional offices, and warehouses throughout the state. The incumbent will assist with the installation and removal of trade fixtures, sales counters, POS and communications cabling, telephone wiring, and all other applicable items during store modernizations, relocations, new store openings, and store closings.
Additionally, this position also provides aide to the Central Office Maintenance Crew with projects in the Central Office/Warehouse Complex, as needed. This position will travel at least 42 weeks out of the calendar year to service the retail stores throughout the Commonwealth.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Mechanical motors and Operational equipment
HVAC
- Maintains all systems throughout the Central Office Complex/Warehouse which include: HVACR and electrical, and plumbing.
Paint and Repair Interior/Exterior Surfaces
Prepares walls, doors and surfaces for painting and staining by scraping and cleaning, patching holes and uneven areas with spackling compound and plaster patch, sanding rough surfaces; applies stain and paint to interiors and exteriors with brushes, rollers, and spray equipment; assists Lead Painter with light carpentry duties.
Trade Fixture Installation
Assists Trade Tech IV in the installation and removal of trade fixtures and sales counters, and all other related equipment, in all retail stores statewide, includes new store openings, store relocations, modernizations.
Assists Trade Tech IV in the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of HVAC and mechanical systems and boiler systems in retail stores and regional offices throughout the state, which are not the Lessor’s responsibility. HVAC and Mechanical Systems.
Electrical, Plumbing and Communications Systems
Assists Trades Tech IV in troubleshooting, repairing, replacing, and installing new electrical wiring and equipment/devices in retail stores and regional offices statewide; troubleshooting, repairing.
Performs minor maintenance and repair work using hand and power tools. Work Orders and Construction.
Performs maintenance requests and performs construction projects to include the demolition of existing walls, ceilings, sprinkler systems, electrical systems, HVAC systems, telecommunications, and networking and replacement.
Orders necessary maintenance materials and preventive maintenance/repairs on miscellaneous building systems.
Miscellaneous Maintenance.
Assists Trade Tech IV in performing routine miscellaneous maintenance functions, i.e., safety inspections, minor floor repairs, telephone wiring and repairs, repairs to trade fixtures and counters, and office furniture. Scrapes paint off windows, doors, and floors, cleans up work area upon completion of job.
Solicits vendors quotes for various projects throughout the Central Office/Warehouse complex.
Minimum Qualifications
Working knowledge of mechanical systems, heating, cooling, plumbing, painting and electrical systems.
Working knowledge of roofing and carpentry.
Experience applying oil based and latex paints and stains, installing, removing wallpaper and border, repairing interior walls and ceilings.
Experience using various painting equipment (roller, sprayer, brushes, etc.).
Experience with HVAC diagnostic equipment; use of all hand and power tools.
Demonstrated ability to repair, maintain, and install HVAC systems, electrical, plumbing and communications systems.
Demonstrated ability to install and remove trade fixture and sales counters; perform minor painting and carpentry work; read blueprints.
Demonstrated ability to perform assigned tasks with few mistakes and in a safe and timely manner.
Ability to work independently and make decisions on own when necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
CFC Certification desired.
HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and trade fixture training preferred.
