Overview:
We are looking for a Main tenance Technician to support the needs of this affordable senior housing complex. Under the direction of the Property Manager/Supervisor, this role is responsible for overall routine maintenance of the building, grounds duties, and general repairs.

This position schedule includes:
  • 1.0 FTE or 80 hours in two weeks
  • Day shift
  • Weekends as needed

A federally-subsidized, low-income housing community, Ebenezer Tower Apartments is a Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Section 8 residence. This complex is conveniently located in historic Midtown Minneapolis, MN with easy access to public transportation. We are among the first in senior housing buildings designed with the needs of the Deaf and Hard of hearing community in mind.
Responsibilities/Job Description:
  • Schedules and performs assigned work order requests, inspections, and repairs in a timely manner.
  • Keeps grounds and walkways free of obstructions by shoveling snow and operating motorized equipment.
  • Assists with establishing and maintaining a preventive maintenance program.
  • Changes belts on motors and filters on air handler units.
  • Greases and oil bearings, pumps, and motors.
  • Performs light electrical and plumbing repairs
  • Repairs tile, carpet, screens, garbage disposals, fixtures, appliances.
  • Performs carpentry work such as fitting doors, refinishing woodwork, etc.
  • Assists with custodial work including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning trash, windows, light bulbs.
  • Sets up public areas and rooms for owners upon request.
  • Apartment turnover including painting, shampoo carpets.
  • Maintains heating systems by completing physical inspection of all units annually.
  • Provide daily reports to the Maintenance Supervisor on completed tasks.
  • Performs other duties as required by specific housing community.
Qualifications:
Required Experience/Skills:
  • 0- 1 year of related work experience
  • Strong customer service, organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Basic understanding of Microsoft word, excel and outlook or similar computer programs.
  • Able to operate equipment and tools to complete repairs
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds, stand, walk, push, kneel, reach, and carry on a frequent basis
Preferred Education/Licensure/Certifications:
  • HVAC/Mechanics or related field Associates or Technical Vocational training
  • Prefer class C boilers license or ability to obtain
Preferred Experience/Skills:
  • 3 + years of related work experience
  • Computer skills
  • Able to work with elderly population of residents
