Job Title: Mass Timber Specialist – California

Location: Remote

Description:

Mass Timber Specialists are responsible for being the key point of contact with our customers, developing relationships with customers and key influencers in the commercial construction industry to expand Smartlam’s presence in the market as a tier one mass timber supplier. This position requires as self-motivated personality that can work in a collaborative team environment and perform the following responsibilities:

Responsibilities

  • Develop sales plan for delivering sales quota in designated market with Smartlam estimating, engineering, and sales team to deliver.
  • Develop relationships with developers, architects, engineers, and contractors to position Smartlam as the preferred mass timber supplier for a project.
  • Work with installers and specialty engineers to provide a design-supply-install mass timber package for a project.
  • Medium travel for trade shows/conferences, meeting face-to-face with design team members, hosting plant tours and participating in project interviews.
  • Attend local events targeting potential mass timber designers (WoodWorks, AIA, SEA, ULI, etc.).
  • Provide lunch and learn and webinars to customers to educate them on mass timber as well as Smartlam’s differentiators.
  • Qualify project leads and determine if Smartlam should pursue.
  • Develop qualified project leads by consulting with design team.
  • Prepare budgets for projects in early stages of design.
  • Working with estimating to provide a formal quote based on project specifications.
  • Present quote to customer, determining action items needed from Smartlam to close order.
  • Proactively update ZOHO CRM.

Required Skills & Experience

  • BA/BS degree in Engineering or Architecture preferred.
  • Commercial construction experience (3+ years preferred).
  • Strong communication skills – effective listening, written, verbal, presentation.
  • Ability to determine which of numerous requests are key and prioritize them.
  • Comfortable acting without being told and making “best guess” decisions when needed.
  • Competitive with a need to win that can work with a team built to support them.
  • Able to think outside the box to position Smartlam in the best position to win project.
