Media Center Coordinator

Job Description
As a part of a diverse community of faculty and staff who represent many faith systems and worldviews, the School of Global and Cultural Studies at Marian University seeks applicants for a Media Center Coordinator to manage our multimedia resources and to help support faculty and students working on Macintosh platforms within the Department of Media, Design and Communication. The successful candidate will promote Marian University’s Catholic mission and identity by fostering student learning through faculty support, networking, weekly updates, and file backups. Additionally, we are looking for a candidate who would support students, faculty, and staff with various media production and development initiatives in the department (print, digital, motion, video, and audio) on Apple iMacs and other Apple consumer electronics.
Area of specialization in Macintosh computers and supporting creative third-party hardware and software desired. Preference will be given to candidates who have previous experience supporting creative teams on Mac platforms and have experience maintaining font libraries, system updates, and cloud-based software applications from vendors like Adobe, Blender, Wacom, Epson, and Canon. Applicants with experience working in a multi/interdisciplinary background who have demonstrated active engagement with diverse media production will be preferred.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Actively engage the Catholic Franciscan mission and identity of Marian University by modeling the Franciscan Sponsorship Values and honoring the legacy of the founding congregation through transformative education, unity in diversity, leadership through service, integrating faith and life, and institutional policies.
  • Manage media equipment, film, and podcast room activities.
  • Keep inventory of equipment and track usage of supplies and media spaces.
  • Hold appointments for those seeking help with multimedia projects.
  • Manage (student) multimedia consultants.
  • Serve as primary on-site walk-in support which may require a shifting schedule.
  • Liaison with the infrastructure team on key software updates within established IT protocols.
  • Help plan and promote media center events.
  • Be available to teach up to two media-focused courses per year as needed by the department.
  • Conduct in-class visits to classrooms when faculty request assistance with teaching relevant software or with planning multimedia projects.
  • Lead ongoing projects that promote vision for the media spaces in alignment with the department.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
  • Specialization in Apple products, Mac OS, and MacIntosh hardware and software setup and maintenance.
  • Evidence of ability to work with diverse students in an interdisciplinary, collaborative, culturally sustaining, and inclusive academic environment.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated and able to collaborate with faculty in a timely manner for classroom support.
  • Prior experience working in a creative production or educational environment strongly preferred.
  • Certification of Adobe Creative Cloud is strongly preferred.
  • Some knowledge of Adobe creative application software required.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the mission of Marian University.
