ABOUT THE COURT*
Los Angeles Superior Court is the largest unified trial court in the United States. Its 580 judges and commissioners work in one of the 40 facilities within the Court's 12 judicial districts and are supported by more than 4,500 full-time Court employees. The Court has an annual budget of more than $855 million. Located in Southern California, Los Angeles County is geographically one of the nation's largest counties, covering 4,084 square miles and, with over 10,400,000 residents, is also one of its most populous counties.

FOCUS ON EMPLOYEE SAFETY AND WELLBEING*
Court employees are considered disaster service workers under California Government Code section 3100 and are needed to deliver the statutorily mandated, time-sensitive and emergency services in times of local, state, and national emergencies. The Court takes its responsibilities for ensuring a safe workplace and providing essential public services to those who are required to come into a courthouse seriously; including its legal and ethical obligations to protect the workforce, justice partners, and the public from COVID-19. The Court has implemented various policies and protocols to protect the health and safety of its employees while delivering statutorily mandated essential services. This includes implementing technology to facilitate remote appearances for court users and expanding telework opportunities for employees.

ABOUT THE POSITION*
Media Relations Representatives responds to inquiries made on behalf of the public, media, and/or court staff and disseminates information related to court operations in ways that promote public trust and confidence in the judicial branch and the Superior Court of California, County of Los Angeles. Incumbents also provide logistics for assuring decorum and efficient management of high-profile court proceedings, and provide general information and guidance concerning the Court to both internal and external stakeholders.

TELEWORK OPPORTUNITIES*
This position is eligible for partial telework following an initial training period.
SELECTION REQUIREMENTS:
To qualify, you must meet one of the following options at the time of filing:

OPTION I: * Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a major* in marketing, public relations, communications, journalism, or a closely related field -AND- Two years of progressively responsible experience in the field of journalism, public relations, or communications that includes technical writing, editing and daily news reporting on deadline for newspapers, and/or news releases, web-based communications, and other internal and external publications and communications needs.
OPTION II: A Master's Degree* in marketing, public relations, communications, journalism, or a closely related field.
Note: Credit for experience is given based on a 40-hour workweek. Part-time experience is credited on a part-time ratio, i.e., working 20 hours per week for two months equals one month of experience. No additional credit is given for overtime.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: *

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: *
The ideal candidate will possess the following desirable qualifications:

Public sector media relations experience.
- Experience creating strategic communication for external and internal stakeholders
- Experience working with media, public figures, and/or high-profile individuals or groups
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Experience responding to inquiries made on behalf of the public, and media.
- Strong experience researching and writing complex and technical publications for various audiences in a wide variety of formats (newsletters, annual reports, news releases, and website content)
- Ability to handle multiple, simultaneous, and complex tasks and projects effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to foster strong relationships with appropriate local, State, and Federal officials and their staff

PART II: *An online examination, weighted 1000%, covering deductive reasoning, professional potential, achievement, independence, influence, confidence, optimism, and reliability.
