Responsible for answering phone, scheduling appointments, referrals, lab tests, x-rays as well as renewing prescriptions. Performs injections/immunizations upon physician order. Documents history in EHR as well as performing vitals. Maintains a clean, safe and stocked work area by following guidelines with infectious and hazardous waste. Assists physician as needed. May be assigned to specific medical specialty department (e.g., pediatrics).

Licenses/Certificates:

• CMA and RMA certification from one of the following credentialing bodies: AMT, AAMA, NAHP, NCCT, NHA, ARMA , preferred.

• Basic Life Support Certification

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent and degree from an accredited medical assistant program required.

Experience:

• Preferred experience working in a medical facility as a medical assistant and/or documented evidence of externship completed in a medical office. Electrocardiogram (EKG), vital signs, venipuncture, capillary, and injection current experience. Committed to continuous learning for job enhancement.

• Requires knowledge of medical terminology, pharmacology and office equipment.
