Spark Health, located in Solana Beach, is growing! …and providing a superior patient experience is our top priority. We provide integrative medical care, including naturopathic medicine, natural pain management, chiropractic care, acupuncture, nutrition, and aesthetic services. We are currently looking for a dynamic Medical Assistant/Phlebotomist to administer blood draws, process lab orders, take vitals, give injections, and serve as a backup to the primary front desk administrators. Responsibilities

• Determine the right venipuncture method based on patient age, health etc.
• Reassure patients and help them relax
• Find veins that are suitable for puncture
• Draw blood using sterilized needles, vials and other equipment
• Ensure optimal quality and quantity of samples
• Label samples correctly, process correctly, and send or deliver them for testing
• Answer patient questions and provide useful information
• Keep accurate records on fluid specimens and tests
• Adhere to all relevant health and safety standards while working
• Processing of laboratory documents and specimens
• Knowledge base of tests performed
• Providing backup to front desk admin staff
• Checking out clinic patients
• Taking and charting vital information for clinic patients
• Giving IM vitamin injections

Qualifications

• Recent, proven experience as a Phlebotomist or Phlebotomy Technician
• Diploma in Phlebotomy or extensive on-the-job training
• Experience with effective puncture techniques
• Understanding of proper patient identification methods
• Knowledge of legal requirements about drawing blood, handling fluid samples and use of relevant medical equipment and material
• Ability to use computers to enter information
• Excellent communication skills
• Attention to detail
• Ability to connect with various types of patients (such as children, elderly, pregnant women) and make them feel comfortable
• Patience and presence of mind

Hours: Part-time, Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 12:00pm. Occasional Saturday shift from 9:00am - 1:00pm.

Rate: $21-$25/hour based on experience

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $21.00 - $25.00 per hour

Schedule:

• Rotating weekends
