Job description
  • Provide measurement support to Manufacturing for basic measurement tools or automated measurement equipment (set-up, programming, teaching and training, troubleshooting, etc.)
  • Perform First Article Inspections and Process Capability Studies as needed.
  • Complete measurement equipment verifications, as required.
  • Participate in gauge R&R studies for measurement system analysis.
  • Collect and analyze data, within assigned manufacturing areas, and generates reports.
  • Support the Manufacturing Engineers and Quality Engineers with creation and maintaining of Inspection Sheets for product’s specific SOP.
  • Support the Manufacturing Engineers and Quality Engineers with the development, implementation, training, and use of Statistical Process Control. (IQS).
  • Participate in continuous improvement within assigned manufacturing areas.
  • Managing the Calibration Program to ensure all inspection equipment is up to date, calibrated, and documented.
  • Demonstrate advanced measurement and inspection skills, including programming, troubleshooting, and application of complex electronic non-contact measurement equipment.
  • Create and run program files on automated equipment for part inspection.
  • Define and design fixture requirements for inspection processes using CAD software. Procure fixtures manufacturing internally or externally sourced.
  • Maintain proper use and care for measurement equipment.
  • Assist with the development of inspection procedures and control plans.
  • Initiate Document Change Requests (DCR’s) for changes to inspection procedures, control plans, pFMEA…etc.
  • Participate in audit functions (product, process, and operating system) ensuring quality systems and products are consistent with internal documentation, standards and customer requirements.
  • Support CAPA and NCR process as requested.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Training

  • Provide technical support to manufacturing employees
  • Provide training on inspection criteria and techniques

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree with a concentration Engineering or Metrology field or,
  • Associate Degree in a technical field and 5 year’s experience in a manufacturing environment or,
  • High School Diploma, 10+ year’s experience in a manufacturing environment or equivalent combination of education and related experience.

Other Qualifications:

  • Technical training in geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, blueprint reading, and statistical process control; desired
  • Work independently in a fast paced, dynamic manufacturing environment;
  • Demonstrate effective problem solving and analysis, time management, leadership, and documentation skills;
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office, ERP system.
  • Skilled using a variety of measurement equipment including calipers, micrometers, gauge pins, drop indicators, dial indicator, surface plate, optical comparator, smart scope and coordinate measuring machine (CMM).
