With our Agency's mission to support the recovery of people with mental illnesses, we provide a complete array of medical and support services for children, adults, and families throughout South Carolina.
This position is located at the Berkeley Community Mental Health Center (BCMHC), 403 Stoney Landing Road, Moncks Corner, SC, 29461.
The BCMHC Forensic Services Program coordinates with multiple criminal justice system components in Berkeley County to address the mental health needs of adults involved with the criminal justice system. The Mental Health Jail Team addresses these barriers by allowing individuals to receive mental health services while in jail, providing immediate access to crisis intervention, and planning for the continuum of care upon release into the community. Mental Health Professionals (MHP I) will be housed in the Hill-Finklea Detention Center.
As MHP, you will perform semi-routine or diversified counseling and case management functions for individuals with behavioral and/or emotional and mental health issues and assist in developing and implementing treatment plans. You will guide clients in developing skills or strategies towards achieving and maintaining good mental health.
You will counsel or aid family members to assist them in understanding, dealing with, or supporting the client. You will provide supplementary counseling services for individuals undergoing intensive psychiatric treatment elsewhere in a mental health program and participates in treatment team meetings. As well as assist in formulating and developing patient treatment plans and programs and performing specialized educational and training functions within the clinical setting as designated.

A master’s degree in guidance, counseling, the social sciences or a related field.
