Our Global Fixed Income (GFI) group is currently seeking an Investment Manager (IM) to provide portfolio management oversight and support for the Spread Segment Total Mortgage portfolio and Treasury Segment portfolio and drive our CalPERS mission.

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Provide portfolio management oversight and support for the internally managed Mortgage Segment portfolio to deliver long-term target excess returns within acceptable risk parameters.
• Using analytics systems such as Bloomberg, BlackRock Aladdin and YieldBook, make portfolio allocation and security selection recommendations across and within sectors using underlying collateral attributes to determine relative value and alpha potential.
• Provide portfolio management oversight and support for the internally managed U.S. Treasury Segment portfolio consistent with investment guidelines.
• Partner with the Investment Director, Structured Securities, to perform value analysis of Agency MBS relative to complex securities such as non-agency pass-through securities and non-agency CMOs, commercial mortgage-backed securities, asset-backed securities, agency and non-agency credit-linked notes, and whole loan mortgage obligations.

This position is eligible for annual and long-term incentive awards. The annual incentive opportunity is 0-60% of salary and is based on the level of achievement against several quantitative and qualitative measures. The long-term incentive program provides an additional opportunity of 40-60% of base salary beginning after five years and when absolute total fund returns meet or exceed board-approved thresholds.

Telework Information: This position is eligible for an office-centered hybrid telework schedule with up to two days of telework and three days or more onsite, per week.

Desirable Qualifications
In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

• A comfort and appreciation for operating in a team and consensus driven environment is a key aspect underlying success in the CalPERS environment
• A high degree of initiative, professionalism, confidentiality, and comfort with working under pressure in a fast-paced environment
• Be flexible in adapting to changes in priorities, assignments, and other interruptions which may impact pre-established timelines and courses of action
• Excellent written and verbal communication, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
• CFA or similar certification
• MBA and/or other Masters Degree in Finance/Accounting/Mathematics
• 3 years of MBS and US Treasury Portfolio management and/or trading experience

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15,250.00 - $25,416.67 per month
