We're looking for an experienced Freelance Narrative Designer to craft narrative dialogue and scenarios for immersive, virtual human learning experiences. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of human behavior, the ability to create realistic characters, and experience in converting key learning concepts into engaging, conversational, and realistic dialogue. This position reports to the lead narrative designer, working closely with product owners and learning experience design teams.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience we are looking for:

• Strong content writing skills
• Strong understanding of narrative structure and character arcs
• Ability to write interactive branching dialogue
• Solid understanding of story and game structure and how they can integrate successfully
• Solid ability to integrate learning goals into narrative structures
• Ability to write, iterate, and revise work under tight deadlines
• Ability to interpret client requirements and specifications into engaging enterprise scenarios
• Ability to adapt style to match a project's tone, business requirements, and learning goals
• Ability to synthesize individual research and subject matter expert insights into communication trainings
• Ability to brainstorm, work, write, give constructive feedback, and edit collaboratively with a team
• Ability to build rapport with clients
• Ability to learn new content creation software

In this role you will:

• Write interactive dialogue for business related conversational training modules
• Use our proprietary tool to create soft skill training simulations
• Cultivate expertise in tool usage and training
• Participate in design sessions for development of new functionality and for customization of existing functionality of proprietary software
• Work with Client Managers and Project Managers to understand and analyze client requirements
• Collaborate with clients in their content creation to ensure client satisfaction and success
• Perform product demonstrations for both prospective clients and existing clients as needed
• Train clients to create or adapt existing e-learnings to an interactive training paradigm, deployable on multiple platforms, such as VR
• Troubleshoot technical issues with the technical support team when required
• Help create instructional materials, marketing materials, user experience copy, and contribute to our learning library
• Categorize and describe how learning experiences you create fit into our larger learning experience platform
• Identify improvement opportunities for Talespin products
• Ensure all learning content adheres to Talespin’s internal standards of excellence
• Work with subject matter experts to translate their knowledge and expertise into compelling narratives
• Work with learning designers to ensure interactive narratives effectively teach skills, learning objectives, and key learning points
• Create personae and backstories for interactive characters
• Write compelling natural dialogue for characters within contemporary business settings
• Work collaboratively in a team of other writers, producers, and designers
• Participate in peer-review and editing of other writers’ work
• Revise writing work as a result of feedback from subject matter experts, team members, and stakeholders
• Research subject matter with guidance from subject matter experts
• Pitch ideas internally to narrative and teams from other disciplines
• Assist and provide creative input in production activities such as table reads, voice recording sessions, and motion capture sessions
• Provide additional support to ongoing learning experience design projects as needed

One or more of these is a plus:

• Experience working in interactive narrative software or interactive online platform
• Experience writing for games
• Understanding of educational pedagogy and learning theory
• Understanding of narrative development for interactive learning design
• Experience writing dialogue for learning and development and other training purposes
• Experience writing conversational user interface scripts
• Experience writing professionally on at least one shipped product
• Experience working as a part of a collaborative design team
• Experience with voice recording sessions and providing feedback to actors
