Job description
The Department of Public Affairs and Marketing plans, manages and implements strategic communications (such as news services, public relations, marketing, internal and external communications) for UC Davis Health. Communications are aimed at a wide range of key constituencies such as: the news media; UC administration; UC Davis faculty, staff and students; government/regulatory leaders; external physicians; business leaders; patients and health care consumers; and the general public.
In addition:

Research and monitor national competitive landscape on a regular basis, managing master documentation, tracking systems, etc. and conduct competitive analysis

Work in collaboration with Strategy and Finance Teams on research and data acquisition from outside sources.

Research and understand ranking criteria required for submission and ranking points as well as recommend solutions to close gaps in data collecting and reporting

Design, develop, maintain, and enhance tracking, reporting and scorecard mechanisms and metrics to communicate program and project performance to leadership and other audiences (e.g., Tableau reporting and dashboarding).

Oversee collection of all tracking measures within the health system

Work in conjunction with National Reputation Marketing Associate to identify areas where promotion, marketing or increased visibility could improve ranking results and provide full reporting of program and leveraging of results to share with Leadership team

Report results, gaps, progress, and opportunities for improvement and meet regularly with ranked specialty area leaders for updates, requests for data, and to provide suggestions for improvement in their area.

Track data and reporting to ranking bodies and provide monthly, quarterly, and annual updates to the Director of Brand Management + Marketing in addition to development of presentations for leadership.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field
- 5+ years of experience as an analyst and proven track record of developing highly effective reporting and data visualization tools for health institution
- Experience working with data in relation to competitive market share, clinical data and prioritizing business opportunities
- Strong data visualization skills required (well versed in cognitive psychology and principles of UI/UX) – including strong capabilities in Tableau
- Demonstrated experience and familiarity with advanced statistical and other quantitative methods for evaluating processes (Lean, Six Sigma, et)
- Demonstrated skills and experience translating nontechnical business requirements into actionable quantitative analytics
- Proficient in querying data from multiple data systems and working within an integrated data mart environment to identify trends, issues and potential invalid data
- Expert collaboration skills and experience with stakeholder management and prioritizing many data analytics requests
- Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to interact effectively, courteously and cooperatively with a wide range of individuals including: senior leadership, faculty/physicians and staff; business professionals; patients; consumers; and vendors. Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships throughout the University, health system and community.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to manage complex information, assess problems, and develop effective solutions
- Excellent organizational skills; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously; prioritize work independently; manage and meet multiple deadlines, work quickly and with minimal supervision, showing independent judgment, accuracy and initiative. Ability to anticipate problems and recommend and/or implement changes and solutions.
- Exceptional customer-service skills including problem-solving, cooperative language, empathy, flexibility, and the ability to work with clients and staff within the department for quick and effective responses and problem-resolution. Ability and willingness to support institutional customer service requirements.
- Willingness to learn and adhere to the UC Davis Principles of Community and CLAS Standards
- Certifications in Lean, Six Sigma, Scrum, Tableau, or similar.
- Masters degree in Business or Healthcare Administration.
- Experience in large academic healthcare setting with knowledge of or ability to learn UC Davis Health organization, structure, clinical, research, and administrative departments.
- Highly developed knowledge and experience in healthcare strategy, finance, and operational analytics.
- Position can be fully remote
