Overview:

This position will provide data and voice communications implementation and support company wide. Support includes troubleshooting, researching, and resolving connectivity, data, and voice issues as they occur; backing up team members when needed; and following through with problem resolution with customers. The ideal candidate will have solid experience providing expert support to data and voice communication for users, employing a high degree of customer service and professionalism, technical expertise, and timeliness.


Primary responsibilities include troubleshooting networks such as local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs) with a strong command of OSPF and BGP routing protocols, and other data communications systems; undertaking routine preventative measures and implement, maintain, and monitor network security; and installing, configuring, and maintaining network services, equipment, and various devices. Additionally, responsible for verifying that the security requirements of IT networking systems are being met, identifying and escalating new risks, and periodically reviewing and verifying that all users of the system are authorized and are using the required system security safeguards in compliance with the DCI IT security program.


Secondary responsibilities include implementing and maintaining voice communications systems and services including, but not limited to, VoIP, PBX, TDM, QOS, SIP services, automated call distribution, voice mail, unified messaging, and audio conferencing.


Tertiary responsibilities include monitoring and maintaining firewalls.

Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate with internal teams for network/telecom upgrades
  • Ensure the integrity and availability of the telecommunication systems of the company
  • Provide phone support and help maintain optimized paths for utilizing SIP Trunks and PRI/POTS Lines
  • Perform quarterly network/phone audit and software/firmware reconciliation reports
  • Track calls and enter solution data into solution database
  • Contribute infrastructure information to the Knowledge Repository
  • Attend weekly meetings with supervisor to resolve any network/phone issues and telecommunication needs and to address any phone or network related questions/issues
  • Complete Individual Status Reports (ISRs)
  • Follow documented work schedule policy
  • Take responsibility for one's own development
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Primary Technical skills
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in networking with TCP/IP, Network Switching Technology, VLANs, Routers, Strong Command of Routing Protocols (OSPF, BGP), QOS, IP Subnets, DNS, DHCP and Active Directory
  • Strong analytical troubleshooting background
  • CompTIA A+ Certification required
  • CompTIA Network+ or Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Certifications required
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Certifications required


Secondary Technical skills

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a corporate environment supporting/troubleshooting VoIP phone system recommended but not required
  • ShoreTel/Mitel phone system experience is a plus


Tertiary Technical skills

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a corporate environment supporting/troubleshooting firewalls recommended but not required
  • Experience in security log monitoring and maintenance of firewalls
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree required
