Position Summary
SUNY Geneseo’s Department of
Student Health and Counseling is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to join our fully integrated, AAAHC accredited health services team. This is a full-time 12 month, year-round position. SUNY offers a competitive, robust

Health Services provides routine primary care services such as sick visits, physical exams, immunizations, emergency contraception, and STI testing and treatment, along with other common ambulatory care concerns. In addition, we specialize in diagnosing and treating health problems common to college students, managing certain chronic conditions, and consulting about health issues. Finally, we encourage and promote healthy student behaviors through our multiple patient education endeavors.
The primary responsibilities of the Nurse Practitioner include practicing as a primary care clinician for Student Health Services clients, per established protocols. These include assessment and diagnosis, providing patient health education, ordering of laboratory tests, x-rays, and prescribing medications.

These include assessment and diagnosis, providing patient health education, ordering of laboratory tests, x-rays, and prescribing medications.
Additional duties include:
- Providing physicals for sports, study abroad and as established by College policy.
- Referring to specialists and for hospitalization as indicated.
- Evaluation of entrance medical examination reports.
- Working cooperatively with clinical, nursing, counseling, and support staff.
- Meets on a regular basis with other Student Health and Counseling clinicians.
- Reports important concerns or problems appropriately through clinical and administrative channels.
- Cooperates with Livingston County Health Department, physicians, health agencies and college health centers; cooperates inter-departmentally with the College.
- Rotates holiday coverage as needed.
- Recognizes and protects students’ confidentiality.
- Participates in outreach and health promotion activities for students, faculty and staff.
- Participates in GOLD Workshops.
- Participates in department, division, and College committees, meetings and ceremonies.
Minimum qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
- A minimum of three years experience as a licensed practitioner is required.
- An ability to provide culturally-competent medical care to students of various identities and backgrounds as well as an interest and experience in working with a diverse adolescent/young adult population.
- Excellent communication skills
- Must be team-oriented and work cooperatively with a dedicated college-health staff.
- Master’s degree
- Excellent clinical, interpersonal and health teaching skills.
- Experience as a primary care practitioner
Eligibility for New York State license and certification is required.
