In this job, you’ll have overall responsibility for the Aircraft Operations Division of our Transportation Services Department and be responsible for establishing and developing business strategy, objectives, and plans.

In this role you will manage diverse and specialized teams which have operational and financial impact on the Company. You will develop long-term business plans, objectives, and initiatives for the organization and recommend and/or approve departmental policies and procedures.

  • Provides strategic direction to deliver safe, reliable, & affordable, aviation services with a strong customer service orientation in support of company-wide operations.
  • Consults with operations and senior management/ executives in various organizational units to develop strategy, policies, programs, and procedures for incorporating aviation services into their respective organizational operations.
  • Leads the development of strategies for long-term planning, budgeting, and General Rate Case cycles, as well as various aviation work methods.
  • Directs and controls the activities of multiple related departments. Accomplishes results through delegation of responsibility to subordinate management levels
  • Manages resources and budget levels to meet strategic objectives and operational needs. Makes, recommends and/or approves employment decisions (e.g., hiring, promotion, appropriate pay, rewards/recognition, succession planning, termination).
  • Manages employee performance for both direct and/or matrixed reports. Establishes performance expectations and goals aligned with Company objectives, policies, and procedures.
  • Manages, trains, and develops staff by providing timely feedback, coaching and support. Demonstrates Company values through decisions and actions.
  • Develops and maintains relationships within Utility Aviation to be aware of developing standard methodologies.
  • Develops, implements, and maintains metrics demonstrating the value creation of aviation (both internal and external assets).
  • Promotes the Company’s safety culture to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Identifies and advocates for the Company’s interests in proceedings related to federal, state, and local aviation related laws, regulations, and policies.
  • Represents the Company to outside agencies and regulators and serves as an expert SME and consultant to executive management and OUs. Knowledge of applicable Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations, DOT, and Cal OSHA regulations. Thorough knowledge of Company and department policies, objectives, strategies, and goals; subject area or function being managed; applicable State and Federal environmental and hazardous waste regulations.
  • Serves as company’s resident aviation expert in various industry forums
  • Makes final decisions on functional matters and ensures effective achievement of objectives
Qualifications


The essentials

  • Possesses seven or more years managing or supervising one or more organizations.
  • Have 3 years or more of supervisory or managerial experience in an aviation operations

The preferred

  • Masters of Business Administration
  • Have a current commercial rotor-wing pilots license or Aircraft Transport Pilot (ATP) license or Airframe and PowerPlan License (A&P / IA) or FAA Dispatcher’s License
  • Certified Aviation Manager
  • Have 3 years or more of supervisory or managerial experience within the last 6 years in a position that exercised operational control over any operations conducted under FAA Part 121 or Part 135 of FAR Part 119 (preferably in a role as Director of Operations or Chief Pilot)
  • Have 3 years or more supervisory or managerial experience within the last 6 years in a position that exercised operational control over any operations conducted under FAA Part 91 (preferably rotor-wing)
  • Knowledge of Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Title 14, Part 107: SMALL UN-MANNED AIRCRAFT SYSTEMS
  • Experience using SAP and Ariba
  • Experience building Executive presentations and presenting to an Executive audience
  • Experience analyzing data and building a story from data into Executive presentations
  • Knowledge of aviation sensing technology (e.g. Un-manned Aircraft Systems , Light Detection and Ranging , and hi-definition cameras)
  • Knowledge of IS-BAO Standards (International Standards of Business Aviation Operations)
  • Continuous improvement mentality and collaborative work ethic.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and experience delivering technical presentations to senior company leaders
  • Excellent teambuilding, mentoring, and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated experience as an inclusive, forward-thinking leader who mentors and motivates a team
  • Experience w/Microsoft Office suite
  • Experience working with technical and non-technical audiences, including peers, clients, management, contractors, and personnel from federal, state of California, and local regulatory agencies.

  • This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage.

  • This position requires testing and applicants who are identified to continue through the selection process will be invited to test via email. Candidates who have previously passed these assessment(s), in some cases, may not need to retest again for this position.
