Position Summary
The Tech must be comfortable interacting with patients of all ages. The Tech must be attentive to details and accuracy. Enjoy working with people and have an aptitude for math. The Tech will assist the optometrists by; collecting the patient’s initial history, performing entrance testing, some diagnostic testing, assisting patients with frame selection, and coordinating patient care.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
To assist the optometrists by;
- Collecting the patient’s history:
Medical, Optometric, Family History, Initial Complaints and Symptoms.
- Perform entrance testing:
Intra-Ocular pressures, Color testing, Stereo Testing, Visual Acuity, Pupillary distance, and using an auto refractor.
- Some diagnostic testing:
Visual Field testing, OCT and Fundus Photography
- Assisting patients with:
Frame selection, making an accurate optical order, ordering frames and lenses, repair and adjust frames.
- Coordinating patient care:
Assisting patients in obtaining follow-up care at LCHC and elsewhere by scheduling an appointment, Cross Train with Registration Staff, Able to assist as needed with patient check in or check out.
Required Skills or Abilities
- Aptitude for math.
- Experience preferred, but willing to train an applicant with similar experience or skills.
Required Knowledge, Education, Experience or Licensure/Registration
- High School Diploma or equivalent,
- Bilingual in Spanish and English.
