Position Summary and Responsibilities:The purpose of the Packing Department Lead is to assist the Packing Supervisor by training new and existing team members, carrying out quality assurance tasks, and monitoring overall activities of the Packing Department.
- Perform Pre-Operational Inspections under HACCP Guidelines and as directed by Packing Supervisor.
- Set up machines for packaging and make necessary adjustments to equipment such as changing dies, films, and labels.
- Train new and existing team members on proper operation of equipment, sanitation procedures, and packing policies and guidelines.
- Monitor daily production schedule to ensure goals are met.
- Perform all duties accurately and efficiently while working safely under all conditions.
- Follow all policies, rules, regulations, and procedures to ensure quality of products is maintained.
- Perform quality assurance tasks including verification of correct product specifications and packaging as well as inspection of quality and quantity of work performed by other team members.
- Report each of the following to packing supervisor immediately: work-related injuries and accidents, damage to equipment, and process or equipment problems.
- Responsible for housekeeping, cleanliness, and sanitary conditions within the department to include assembling and disassembling equipment for sanitation post-production.
- Receive incoming materials and supplies manually and via ROSS to the manufacturing facility and distribute correlating documents to appropriate personnel. Report materials and labor to jobs through ROSS software.
- Identify and resolve production related issues and/or report opportunities to maximize production.
- Ensure team is operating safely and adheres to safety programs and procedures.
- Provide bench strength to Packing Supervisor and assist in carrying out daily activities, production goals, and special projects as needed.
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Ability to multitask in a fast pace work environment
- Must have basic knowledge of proper packing and equipment operating procedures
- Ability to use standard Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel
- Must be able to stand on your feet at least 85% of the day and work in a cold (32-40ยบ) environment
- Excellent Communication Skills
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 75lbs
