Additionally, the Parent Aide is responsible for providing supervised family interaction to support positive relationships between parents/caregivers and their children.
This position works under the direct supervision of Children and Families CPS Manager.
Assist in family interaction planning with case manager; including assistance in background checks of other individuals to be approved to conduct supervised interactions.
Demonstrate effective communication skills to elicit and provide information in a non-judgmental, strength based manner.
Provide services in a manner that is sensitive to cultural, social, economic, individual, and role differences amongst those served. Services provided are family-centered and relationship-based.
Assess the child and family’s resources and support network, to determine need for resource linkage and building of connections.
Develop goals through partnering and consulting the client, informal, and formal supports regarding the family’s strength’s and needs as well as determining resources available to the family.
Actively participate as a team member, including consultation, feedback, support, case information presentation, discussion and decision making.
Provide transportation for children and adults in order to facilitate family interactions or linkage to community resources.
Focus on the safety and well-being of the child(ren) through ensuring that the family’s basic needs are met and the family is connected.
Act as a coach to families who are seeking to obtain services from community agencies in an effort to assist them through the process, ensure that the linkage is made, and the service is appropriate.
Establish a confidential record for each child/family.
Conduct safety checks to client homes as requested; document all safety checks and report any safety concerns immediately to case manager.
Collect UAs and give breathalyzer tests as requested.
Participate in team meetings and/or internal staffing meetings to share progress, challenges, and offer recommendations.
Connect with collateral contacts as requested to assist in case management information gathering.
Work with supervisor and partner Parent Aide to develop a standard parent education curriculum to be offered to selected families while also providing targeted parent education/coaching as requested by case manager.
As a mandatory reporter in the state of Wisconsin, report all suspicious activity related to child abuse or neglect.
PERIPHERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintain accurate and timely electronic case documentation/paperwork.
Perform other duties related to this position as required.
EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE: Two years of related experience preferred. Knowledge of family systems and/or child development preferred excellent writing, computer and math skills; ability to teach and train others.
Knowledge of Child Protective Services.
Knowledge of adverse childhood experience and trauma informed care.
Knowledge of family systems, strength based home visitation techniques, child and adolescent behaviors.
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Ability to effectively meet and work with the public.
Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
