Job description
The New England Center for Children serves students between the ages of 3 and 22 diagnosed with autism, learning disabilities, language delays, intellectual disability, behavior disorders, and related disabilities. The Center’s programs and services are designed to accommodate a broad range of functional levels and varying degrees of disability. The Center provides a full range of educational, residential and treatment programs designed to help children reach their full potential. The goal of maximizing independence serves as the foundation of all Center programs. Each program has been developed to address varying skills and multiple levels of functioning.
We have several part-time direct care positions available; all roles are responsible for the direct care and ABA instruction of students in the classroom and/or residence. This includes knowledge and implementation of students’ clinical, educational, vocational, and daily living skills objectives. This position is an entry-level position designed for individuals interested in a career in human service, special education, and/or ABA.
Essential duties and responsibilities
- Ensure all students’ safety and implement all safety procedures
- Demonstrate principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)
- Active and regular participation at all team meetings
- Assist with residential duties/chores including laundry, cleaning, dishes, cooking, etc. in conjunction with students’ activities of daily living to ensure general maintenance of residential homes

Qualifications
- Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
- One year experience in a related field or actively working on a degree.
- Valid driver’s license and own vehicle.
- Successful completion of CALM training (non-violent self-defense)
o Including but not limited to: pivoting, knee squats, shuffling front and backwards, carrying people, assisting a person to the floor, stabilizing people in standing, seated, prone and supine positions.
- Ability to communicate and work in a team style environment.
- Individual must be physically, mentally and emotionally prepared to for a challenging work experience.
