Arlington Transit Management, a subsidiary agency of RATP Dev USA, is a special purpose transit district that provides the transportation and event services to the Arlington Entertainment
District and it's venues.

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

Perform preventative maintenance on agency fleet as needed, ensuring the availability of vehicles in safe operating condition, and compliance with written documentation of repairs to meet Arlington Transit Management's State/Federal/Local requirements.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES

Requires above average oral and written communication, customer service, and technological/decision-making skills.

Performs Preventive Maintenance Inspections (PMI) on revenue fleet. Inspects and/or test and observe defective equipment to troubleshoot and diagnose malfunctions of major components and complete assemblies. Performs diagnosis and repair of air brake systems, suspension, steering and alignment.

Proper use and interpretation of laptop computer and related software. Must be able to read and interpret refrigerant, hydraulic, and pneumatic pressure gauges and understand the proper use of battery/ charging system analyzers.

Services and diagnose electrical systems utilizing test instruments such as laptop computer, ID
Reader/ Writer and able to read ladder logic charts. Assists in the servicing and diagnosing of exhaust after-treatment systems and electronic engine controls.

Inspects and verifies dimensions, clearances, and torque of part fasteners to ensure conformance to factory specifications.

Road tests vehicles when necessary to diagnose malfunctions or to ensure that they are

working properly.

Completes all required reports and records in a timely and accurate fashion. Assists in work direction with Director of Maintenance as assigned.

Participates in on-going training in accordance with Arlington Transit Management's Training
Program. Promotes safety awareness and follows safety procedures to reduce or eliminate accidents. Works independently and in conjunction with road supervisors, operations management, maintenance management, and training.

Must meet qualifications and comply as outlined in Subpart E §391.33 Physical Qualifications and §391.43 Medical Examinations of the Department of Transportation (DOT) and Federal
Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR).

Must comply with Arlington Transit Management's Drug & Alcohol Testing Program as outlined in the Department of Transportation (DOT) & Federal Transit Administrations (FTA)
49 CFR Part 40 & CFR Part 655 to include the Company Substance Abuse Policy. See
Minimum Requirements.

Operate radio system in accordance with Arlington Transit Management's established policies and procedures and the Federal Communication Commission (FCC).

Mechanic must adhere to the uniform application of the Performance Policy, Attendance
Policy, Safety and Operational procedures as designated by Arlington Transit Management.

MINOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Understand and respond effectively to passenger concerns during road calls. Assist passengers during road calls.

Change light bulbs and windshield wiper blades; refuel vehicles, as needed. Fills out paperwork of work completed, input work orders into computer. May travel to pick up parts.

Work effectively with operations staff to meet their needs and aid in mechanically sound operation of vehicles. Must comply with State/Federal/Local law enforcement, regulations, and requirements.

Service hours vary due to the nature of the business, all staff must comply with the attendance policy and the minimum hours requirement. Part Time Mechanic must comply with a minimum of 24 hours per 7-day work week, on prescribed shifts of 6 hours per day. No accommodations will be made to the hourly requirements unless in adherence to the
Attendance Policy. Mechanic cannot work partial or split shifts at their discretion.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB

Education:
High school diploma or equivalent. Graduation from a related technical school preferred.
Experience:
Minimum three (3) years mechanical repair experience on automotive, medium, or heavy-duty equipment.

Automotive Service Excellence Certificates (ASE) in brakes, steering / suspension, and / or
PMI preferred. Able to maintain or obtain additional certification/licenses as required.

Must possess and maintain a Texas State Commercial Class (A or B) License or Permit with
Passenger & Air Brake endorsement (for A & B licenses). Drivers’ history report from
Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), documenting driving record for past three to five years. Five years’ experience in the operation of a motor vehicle preferred. No more than two traffic citations for moving violations during past three (3) years.

No Driving While Intoxicated (DWI/DUI) conviction within last three (3) years.
Other:
Must be at least 21 years of age, must pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) Physical
(medical) examination, which includes an alcohol & drug screen. Per DOT/FTA standards
Arlington Transit Management Safety Sensitive Employees are subject to random alcohol & drug testing as a condition of continued employment.

Possess complete knowledge of all tools and equipment in shop related to job classification.
Must maintain a basic set of personal hand tools to perform repairs related to job classification with exception of specialized tools provided by Arlington Transit Management.

A criminal background check will be completed and assessed by Arlington Transit
Management on viable candidates. Must be able to work variable shifts and irregular hours.

Must be able to communicate in the English Language both orally and written.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to lift or move up to fifty pounds. Must be able to sit, stand, walk, climb, kneel, or crawl. Must be able to do repetitive tasks.

The employee is exposed to caustic chemicals and high noise levels while in the work environment. Ability to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally. Physical activity includes, but is not limited to: driving company vehicles; operating radio, computerized farebox, head signs and computer keyboard; handling, holding, lifting passenger packages; hearing passengers' requests; locking, opening, climbing, balancing, bending, squatting, twisting, rotating, kneeling, vision (both near and far), speaking/signaling, reaching, pulling/pushing: right sided acceleration/air brake food pedals; sliding left sided window at driver's seat, mirrors to adjust inside/outside of vehicle; destination sign; sun visor; levers/buttons/switches needed to operate bus/make adjustments to parts of bus during pre-trip inspection; lap seat belt; bus seats up/down to access wheelchair areas on wheelchair accessible buses; emergency hatch to open and close in case of an emergency (rare) or if air conditioning failure; spring releases underneath seats, occasional pushing of wheelchair of at least 100 pounds, reaching below waist, waist to shoulder, above shoulder, repetitive motion of wrists, hands, arms, and/or fingers, unlocking while operating various switches and door handles; operating lift; removing items left on the bus by passengers; seeing that passengers are seated before moving bus into traffic; sitting on seat while driving; standing, walking to operate wheelchair lift; talking to answer passenger questions and to announce destination stops; turning pages of route manual; and writing to document accidents, incidents, vehicle defects, etc.
