Overview:
As an essential part of our payroll team, the Payroll Analyst role provides operational support for the full cycle payroll processing. Supports all aspects of the payroll, quarterly and year-end processes (including federal, state/province and local payroll tax filings, W-2’s, T4’s and worker’s compensation, etc.) for all legal entities located in the US, Puerto Rico, and Canada. Provide input and support on process improvements, implementation of changes to increase efficiencies, and support system integrations processes. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, possesses significant knowledge of payroll administration including state and federal regulations.
Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the day-to-day payroll operations for all areas covered by the team, coordinate with internal team to deliver pay accurately and timely, within all regulatory, labor and tax guidelines.
  • Participate in the review, verification, and auditing of payroll.
  • Audit the daily procedures of the payroll department, research, evaluate and ensure that payroll issues and discrepancies are resolved in a proper and timely manner.
  • Assist with maintaining and updating payroll set up in Dayforce and communicate/partner with the finance team in understanding how payroll set-up reflects the General Ledger.
  • Assist with the Coordination of garnishments/child support orders and Workers comp.
  • Partner with the Payroll Manager in ensuring compliance with federal, state, local payroll, wage and hour laws and best practices.
  • Partner with the Payroll Director in jurisdiction registrations and ensuring SUI tax rates is accurate and provided to Ceridian/Equifax.
  • Assist the Payroll Manager in devising the processes and controls needed to operate effectively.
  • Provide guidance to other members of the payroll department as needed.
  • Assist with year-end payroll process including gathering and loading data for year-end adjustments.
  • Support the Treasury Manager for payroll bank reconciliation processes
  • Assist in employee payroll questions
  • Support on-going projects in conjunction with HRIS team such as implementations and Payroll upgrades. Identify opportunities for improvement in Payroll areas and propose alternative solutions where applicable
  • Partner with the Payroll Director and function as the lead on internal, external and tax audits
  • Research IRS, state, and various federal publications
  • Support Payroll Director on projects as needed
  • Perform other duties and ad hoc projects as assigned
  • Maintain strong and productive relationships with Finance, HR, and other stakeholders.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in US and Canadian payroll processing
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in business administration, Finance or Accounting preferred
  • Knowledge of record retention, payroll practices and benefits
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to resolve issues
  • Strong Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) skills
  • Ability to collaborate, work in team setting, and communicate effectively with cross-functional groups
  • Attention to detail and steadfast commitment to accuracy
  • Experience working with Ceridian, ADP, or other cloud-based providers- Ceridian Dayforce preferred.
