About the Job
The Payroll Specialist is responsible for making sure that employees are paid in a timely and accurate manner. The Payroll Specialist is responsible for full-cycle payroll and will be assigned to handle a group of employees. The job functions include processing of payroll, maintenance of time and attendance, periodic reporting, and Union Reporting. Candidates must know how to be an employee advocate and must understand that our employees are our customers.
To Perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Preparing and process multiple payrolls, by assisting operation managers with systems to ensure accurate payment for all employees
- Prepares follow-up for stop payment requests, ACH returns and corrections
- Processing wage garnishments and child support requests
- Analyze weekly and biweekly payroll files received from time and attendance reporting system
- Obtains approvals for payroll exceptions and overtime
- Add and maintain internal and external staff schedules
- Daily identification of schedule exceptions and conducts investigations for correction
- Assist with other duties including projects, audits, and reviews
- Other duties as assigned.

- Working knowledge of wage and hours laws, state, and federal tax
- Must be proficient in excel
- Great energy, engaging, and enjoys collaborating with team
- Must possess excellent verbal / written communication skills
- Accounting and Human Resource experience a plus
- Experience in administration of any time and attendance system

Required Experience and Qualifications
- Previous experience with multistate payroll processing
- Excellent computer skills –Microsoft Outlook, Word, Advanced knowledge of Excel and report writing
- Payroll tax experience at the federal, state, and local levels
- Ability to interpret Union Contracts
