General purpose of the job
The Manager, People & Culture is responsible for partnering with the business to design, develop and implement strategies to attract, engage, and empower employees, while developing talent and building a high-performance culture. This position will provide strategic HR & IR advice, improve business practices, lead complex projects and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and policies.
Provide value-added HR support to the Operations teams through the implementation of HR best practices, programs and policies, such as employment, compensation, employee relations, benefits, training, and employee services. Provide day-to-day coaching and support to managers on a range of employee related issues.
Individual accountabilities
- Promote and champion practices to ensure a safe work environment by understanding, supporting and enforcing Argos’ Safety Policies and practices.
- Support management in the implementation of programs, directing daily activities, influence behavior and drive change towards a positive work environment.
- Train, coach and frontline management on employee relation issues, disciplinary actions, etc
- Assist front line managers and upper management with performance reviews, organizational design / succession planning and the merit process.
- Follow up on performance issues identified, with managers and the employees, and suggest a plan for improvements to be made
- Complete all necessary legal reporting with various government agencies (EEO/AAP/etc)Lead and manage all human resource functions through a business partnering service model to provide relevant and responsive frameworks and procedures to support the effective functioning of the business.
- Contribute to the development of a collaborative high performing organizational culture by building employee and organizational capability.
- Provide sound and expert advice to senior managers on operational people matters, risks, issues and trends to keep managers informed and supported including coaching managers in relation to change management, engagement, and workforce planning issues.
- Develop, implement and monitor systems, policies and procedures to ensure compliance with legislative requirements and standards.
- Provide leadership and supervise the performance of the People and Culture team by setting clear work objectives, assessing performance, providing feedback, and development and coaching to build employee capability.
- Manage complex workplace people issues including grievances, performance improvement, conduct and other investigations, disciplinary matters to build a harmonious and productive working environment.
- Identify, analyze and review emerging people and culture policy issues and trends, review and interpret relevant areas of research and provide evidence-based and industry best practice recommendations.
- Work with management to maintain a Union free environment.
- Work closely with managers/supervisors to identify issues and opportunities in order to develop action plans to improve the overall performance of the operating group.
- Work with operations management to improve productivity at the business unit level
- Assist with goal setting for the managers and his/her employees and new hires.
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Business / HR / Related discipline or equivalent work experience
Technical knowledge and certifications
- Demonstrated ability to conduct thorough investigations, make timely decisions & provide meaningful feedback to employees / managers
- Safety Experience highly preferred.
- 5-7 Years HR Generalist Experience
- Knowledge of employment practices and labor law helpful
- Manufacturing Environment preferred
- PHR or SHRM-CP
Special Requirements (unusual travel, unique skills, etc.)
- RMX Role - Travel Required - 50% This position will cover the Ready Mix facilities throughout throughour the area of responsibiltiy.
- Cement Role - Travel Required - 10% This position will cover the Cement Plant and other assigned facilities.
