Job Title: Petting Zoo Animal Care Team Member

Darby Acres Farm & Darby Safari

*Charlotte, NC Part-Time and Full-Time Position available.

Experience preferred, however will train enthusiastic individuals with excellent work ethic.

Petting Zoo Animal Care Team Member: A dependable organized and focused self-starter with a positive attitude and excellent time management skills to work independently and multi - task and prioritize to complete daily activities according to work schedule while clearly communicating with a dedicated team to give the best care to our animals and property.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK: Provide compassionate and humane care to our animals

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

• Providing daily care, feeding, fresh water, and appropriate bedding for animals
• Clean, sanitize, disinfect, and maintain animal suites, yards, outdoor runs, and grounds
• General facility cleaning and janitorial duties throughout the grounds and animal buildings including but not limited to mopping, washing animal dishes and laundry
• Daily observation and monitoring of animals for changes in health and behavior
• Interacting with and providing excellent customer service to guests on educational tours and birthday parties
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

• Comfortable and prepared to work with all breeds, temperaments, and sizes of farm & exotic animals
• Agree to work flexible hours, including evening, weekends and holidays as needed.
• Comfortable and prepared to meet the demands of working both indoors and outdoors, during all seasons, and in all weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow, etc.)
• Comfortable and eager to meet the demands of working a very active job that requires standing, walking, running, kneeling, crouching, stooping, squatting, twisting, and lifting 50 pounds unassisted, throughout most of the time on the job.
• A valid driver’s license & reliable mode of transportation to commute between the farm and the safari as needed to care for the animals.
• 18 years or older due to the possible hazards of this job.

• 4 hour shift
• 8 hour shift
• Day shift
• Weekend availability

• Charlotte, NC 28216: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)

Experience:

• Time management: 1 year (Preferred)
• Animal care: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:

• Driver's License (Required)
