Pharm 340B Business Specialist FT BMH
In partnership with pharmacy leadership, this role is responsible for the direction, development, compliance, and results for the system-wide 340B Program. Assures program integrity and compliance with the federal and state defined rules and regulations associated with the 340B program. Develops and directs the implementation of new contracted pharmacy relationships and general usage opportunities. Assesses and maintains the overall quality of the 340B Program and to ensure client satisfaction and government compliance. Accountable for program growth, budget, results, and contracting. Interacts with leadership at contracted locations. Employees providing direct patient care must demonstrate competencies specific to the population served.
Pharmacy Technician certification or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Health Administration, or related field; 5 years’ experience in maintenance or implementation of programs of financial or pharmacy-related operational significance; and 5 years’ experience with the design, documentation, and implementation of programs of financial or operational significance required
Pharmacy Technician Certification or Registration preferred
  • High degree of proficiency working with complex, vast and diverse databases – at a minimum access, excel, and SAP-Type databases
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office Suite and related programs
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated high-level of planning and organization skills, and an ability to develop creative solutions when faced with complex problems
  • Able to help develop business plans and presentations with a well-developed sense of timing and strategy
  • Able to analyze financial data in order to efficiently oversee operational budgets and aid cost controls
  • Able to perform audits methodically and repeatedly in a time-efficient manner
  • Serves as a 340B subject matter expert to the leadership of the institution
  • Expected to be able to communicate effectively in verbal and written forms to Bronson pharmacy staff, leaders, and executives
Work which produces high levels of mental/visual fatigue, e.g., interactive and repetitive or small detailed work requiring alertness and concentration for sustained periods of time, the operation of and full attention to a personal computer or CRT between 40 and 70 percent of the time. The job produces some physical demands. Typical of jobs that include regular walking, standing, stooping, bending, sitting, and some lifting of light weight objects.
  • Responsible for 340B program effectiveness which includes identifying program improvement opportunities and solutions to these opportunities through a comprehensive audit process.
  • Ensures that services are provided in accordance with state and Federal regulations, organizational policy, accreditation, and compliance requirements.
  • Help in idea generation and implementation of program improvements
  • Drives integration of 340B in applicable business units of the institution for inclusion into strategy and models of care. Directs market research efforts to assure demand of new program features are justifiable for potential investment based on current market conditions and commercialization.
  • Collaborates with other departments in the development of terms and conditions to be included in agreements with 340B providers to mitigate risk to the institution and optimize margin opportunities. Participates as a stakeholder in development of pricing strategies and outreach.
  • Ensures that processes and services are continuously monitored for quality, cost effectiveness, and efficiency.
  • Engages in process and quality improvement activities. Makes and implements recommendations to improve operational efficiency and to implement new services for areas of responsibility.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships within the organization.
  • Helps to complete required continuous training and education, including department specific requirements.
  • Ensures that patients, their families, visitors, customers, and employees are treated with kindness and respect.
  • Demonstrates teamwork and integrity in all work-related activities. Ensures that
work-performed supports any institutional mission, vision, and values.
