Job description
DESCRIPTION:
The Plater's responsibility is to process parts through various plating/chemical processes. These processes include Cadmium Plating, Anodizing, Chem Film, Passivation, and various cleaning processes. The plater will also be responsible for maintaining proper concentrations with tanks and making adjustments as necessary. Additionally, employees will need to measure parts to ensure conformance with specified plating thicknesses.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
- Handling and Moving Objects - Using hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, moving materials, and manipulating things.
- Communicating with Supervisors, Peers, or Subordinates - Providing information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person.
- Cleans and strips plating parts.
- Utilizes various hazardous chemicals appropriately in order to strike, wash, rinse, oxidize, deoxidize, blast, passivate, and lubricate parts.
- Sizes, racks, plugs, measures, and troubleshoots production parts and assemblies.
- Operates cadmium plating, anodizing, cleaning, Chem Film, and passivation.
- Properly disposes of chemicals following policies and procedures.
- Monitor Processes, Materials, or Surroundings - Monitoring and reviewing information from materials, events, or the environment, to detect or assess problems.
- Candidates must have evening availability for the 2nd Shift which starts at 3:30 pm and ends at 12:00 am.

EDUCATION:
- A High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is required.
EXPERIENCE:
- Previous experience working on a plating line as well as using a micrometer is necessary.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Operation Monitoring - Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
- Operation and Control - Controlling operations of equipment or systems.
- Reading Comprehension - Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work-related documents.
- Active Listening - Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
- Monitoring - Monitoring/Assessing the performance of yourself, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action.
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL ELEMENTS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee generally works indoors within the plating room and manufacturing areas. The employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate or loud. Also, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or to hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds unaided. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
