JOB TITLE:
Intramural Sports Official

JOB PURPOSE:
Officiate and manage Intramural Sports events

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Attend required program meetings and sport specific trainings

Assist with participant check-in and game site set-up/clean-up

Officiate games while enforcing Intramural Sports policies, procedures, and rules

Other duties as assigned

Expectations of Intramural Sports Officials:
The Intramural Sports Program recognizes that you are a student first. We will not jeopardize your status as a student with unreasonable or unjustifiable job demands. As an employee of the Intramural Sports Program, your actions are representative of the department. A positive attitude and professionalism towards participants and co-workers contributes greatly to the overall quality and success of the program. Officials of the Intramural Sports Program must know and perform all responsibilities related to their job.

Officials Meetings:
There will be an interest meeting for those interested in officiating on September 6th. This meeting will cover expectations of officials, what officiated sports there are for the semester, and the developmental opportunities that come with being an official. Officials’ meetings are held prior to the beginning of the season for each major team sport. Meetings are mandatory for all officials who would like to work that sport. These meetings will introduce officials to the rest of the Intramural Sports Staff and familiarize them with program policies and procedures. Officials’ meetings will cover the rules that govern intramural play and the correct mechanics of officiating.

REMOTE WORK ELIGIBILITY:
None

This position provides vital support to campus customers and requires the successful candidate be available to work on campus.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma/GED and current UW student

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Officiating experience
