The Practicum Coordinator plays a key role at the program-level in the successful implementation of CPS’s vision for educational growth and innovation. To this end, the Practicum Coordinator works in collaboration with the Program Director, Assistant Director, and Coordinator of Online Field to develop, assess, and implement innovative online learning initiatives at the program and course level. This position is responsible for field education management activities and the practicum experience of the program’s student. This position functions as a member of the college’s online program team and works to implement a system of continuous improvement and innovation at the academic program level. This position involves extensive collaboration and communication within the CPS and across UNE academic units that house the teaching faculty for the program.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the practicum experience for a cohort of Masters-level students to include such activities as agency contracts, student field paperwork, and agency evaluations;
- Coordinate, with other practicum coordinators, the development of the field education calendar;
- Monitor student progression in the field practicum in collaboration with Student Support Specialists and identify students who are in jeopardy of failing to make SAP;
- Serve as primary contact for identified student issues or concerns related to field education in their student cohort;
- Collect and analyze field program level data and identify opportunities for change and/or improvements;
- Create and prepare reports related to field education as requested;
- Assist Program Director, Assistant Director, and Coordinator of Online Field in strategic planning for the program as it relates to field education;
- Implement strategic initiatives developed within CPS to improve user experience and interface for program students;
- Assist the program in maintaining CSWE accreditation as it relates to field education;
- Assist in the development and updating of online modules as they relate to field education and the training of field supervisors;
- Assist in creating a positive environment within the program and with other CPS units that supports innovation, teamwork, and successful outcomes;
- Complete University new employee orientation and sexual harassment training within 30 days of hire;
- Understand and comply with the University of New England Safety Manual;
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- A Master of Social Work degree plus three years of relevant field education program management preferably in higher education or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired;
- A current license to practice independently.
- Experience using analytical information to identify and make changes;
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of individuals;
- Ability to work independently as well as a member of a team.
