PreK Associate Position Synopsis:
The PreK Associates primary responsibility is to work with the Early Childhood Director to create a safe and loving PreK environment where children learn that God made them, God loves them, and Jesus wants to be there friend forever.
Specific Responsibilities: Includes the following: Additional duties may be required or assigned:
NAVIGATE: Tell Others About Jesus
- Provide lesson information to volunteers prior to their serving date
- Verify that volunteers are using the curriculum and have all needed supplies
ENGAGE: Connect with Others
- Greeting families and guests when they arrive to Early Childhood Area
- Invite parents, teens and others to serve in the Early Childhood Ministry with the mindset of helping them develop friendships while serving.
- Partner with the Compass Womens Ministry The Bridge for Moms of preschoolers to connect with each other
WORSHIP- Grow in our Faith
- Provide weekly opportunities for early childhood children to learn how to be cheerful givers of money, toys, clothing, food and their time.
- Utilize the Orange Teaching Videos/resources to create a fun and exciting worship experience highlighting memory verse learning, songs, theme-related props and games.
SERVE: Serve everyone, everywhere
- Work with the Director and Compass Outreach Ministry to identify opportunities for families with young children to serve together.
- Invite parents, teens, and others to serve in the early childhood ministry
SAMPLE Job Functions for Sundays and Thursdays
- Set up PreK classrooms
- Greet families
- Assist families with any check-in issues
- Welcome volunteers
- Monitor the PreK environment for appropriate safety and security measures
- Escort PreK children to restrooms if needed. (Allowing for two volunteers to stay in classroom at all times)
- Lead PreK worship time or support a volunteer worship leader (approximately 10 minutes long)
- Invite adults and teens to serve in the early childhood ministry
We require a committed Christian who is comfortable working in a church environment and is either a church member or is willing to become a church member. The candidate is like-minded regarding our Christian Beliefs. Qualified applicants must agree with our Compass Beliefs, Values and Staff Commandments. Please carefully read them prior to checking your agreement as all staff must agree and follow the Staff Commandments and Beliefs. Candidates will also have the following qualifications:
Education & Experience, Skill, Knowledge, and Abilities:
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and cooperatively as part of a team
- Ability to maintain constructive, positive relationships with co-workers, volunteers, parents and the Compass Christian Pre-School staff
- Good problem-solving skills, including ability to identify and avoid potential problems
- Professional written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word, Excel
- Ability to effectively learn and utilize the church database
- Positive spirit and enthusiasm for childrens ministry
HOURS: 15 per week
REQUIRED: Sundays 7:45am 12:45pm
REQUIRED: Tuesday Staff Meeting at 10:00am
REQUIRED: Thursdays 5:30pm 8:00pm (usually done by prior to 8:00pm)
All remaining hours/days can be coordinated with Early Childhood Director
- Special Days to Work that may differ from schedule: Fall Festival, Christmas, Easter, Serve Days, Vision Nights, and other Compass Events as determined by Early Childhood Director
