UCP Charter Schools is seeking an experienced school administrator with strong instructional leadership skills as well as experience working with students with diverse abilities/disabilities. Previous experience as a school administrator required (i.e. Assistant Principal/Dean). This is a year round position.

Responsibilities

School culture :

  • Defines and builds a transformative school culture consistent with UCP’s vision, mission and values.
  • Creates an effective team responsible for attaining school goals and committed to achieving excellence.
  • Creates a climate of acceptance of all students, families and staff to ensure inclusive practices are modeled as well as implemented.
  • Continually monitor progress across all measures of school and staff performance.

Student Performance

  • Set standards for student achievement; monitor progress of all students
  • Ensure teachers complete Pre and Post and continuous Assessment and use this data to create lesson plan/instruction.
  • Work with parents to achieve maximum involvement in support of student performance and success
  • Ensure that a focus on continuous improvement addresses the achievement of all students
  • Administer and utilize state data to make analytical decisions to maximize student learning gains.

Instructional Management

  • Interviews, selects, manages, mentors and evaluates all education/education support staff including 90 day and annual performance evaluations.
  • Provide instructional leadership to advance proven teaching and learning practices
  • Observe and document formal observation on a regular basis (at least 2 times per year) using Administrator Walk Through and coaching documentation.
  • Lead and facilitate instructional implementation based on data-driven discussions about student performance
  • Design individual professional development plans and programming for individual teachers and education support staff to address deficits, build on strengths, and become more effective, more successful team members
  • Ensure compliance with state mandated Accountability system (ie School Improvement Rating or School Grade)

School Management and Administration

  • Ensure compliance with full scope of compliance and regulatory requirements including State Department of Education, School District and DCF, and Early Steps
  • In partnership with the Admissions Team, ensure implementation of campus-based student recruitment and enrollment process including tours/class list management.
  • Develop and monitor an annual budget/ensure adherence the budget.
  • Ensure a safe and orderly environment
  • Proactively report any concerns that may need to be elevated beyond the school level
  • Ensure day to day operational oversight of Enrichment Program including:
    • Develop and implement a high qualify after school and summer enrichment program.
    • Oversee and evaluate program staff in terms of their performance responsibilities and productivity in achieving the program’s priorities and results
  • Complete required reports in a timely manner.

Community Relations/Partnerships

  • Develop and maintain positive community, parental, and academic relationships
Qualifications

Education and Training: (or equivalent)

  • Master’s Degree Preferred
  • Current Florida Teacher Certification – Prefer Education Leadership
  • Florida DCF Directors credential (or completion within 6 months) if PreK

Minimum Experience:

  • School Administration/Leadership experience (minimum of 3 years - as a Assistant Principal or Dean/similar role).
  • 5 years’ experience teaching in a classroom with including children with disabilities into the regular classroom.
  • Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a school community toward improved academic achievement.
  • Demonstrated experience in working successfully with diverse populations of students, parents and families—including students, parents and families with limited English proficiency and students with disabilities
  • Experience hiring and managing teachers and other instructional staff and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, parents and members of the community.
  • Experience and knowledge of effective practices in implementing a project based learning model of instruction – differentiating instruction for a wide range of learners.
  • Capacity to mentor teachers in reflective practice.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and learning through professional development.
  • Knowledge of School District/Exceptional Education Compliance/Department of Children and Families policies and procedures
  • Strong knowledge of using data to drive instruction
  • Excellent technology skills
  • Communication: Listens, writes, and speaks effectively.
  • Critical Thinking & Problem-solving: Effectively organizes and analyzes information and anticipates challenges or new information to solve problems. Integrates and acts upon new information quickly, and is comfortable thinking about details and the big picture
