Volt is immediately hiring a Controls Engineer in Salem, Oregon!

This is a full-time, direct hire role.

This architectural glass plant in Salem, Oregon is seeking a Controls Engineer for a full-time, direct hire role. The Controls Engineer at Salem has responsibility for the performance and improvements in the MSVD Coater Process & the Operator Team.
The Controls Engineer is an important part of the Architectural Glass supply system within the company and produces MSVD Low-E coated flat glass for the residential and commercial building industry. Ensures the coater & process meets all company requirements and produces products that meet all internal & customer specifications. The Controls Engineer supervises & leads the Operator team to meet all customer & business objectives and goals. The selected candidate will be accountable for the performance & personal development of the Coater Operator Team. Enforce all Safety, Health and Environment policies & requirement: Assures high level of commitment to safety, housekeeping, environmental, health, and security concerns.
Quality Products and Customer Service: Makes quality "first among equals" as a concern for the organization, manages the quality process. Works to establish a positive relationship with customers. Causes constant and continuing improvement in the quality of the work process, quality of products, and level of service to customers. Technological Capabilities: Assures that all business areas stay on the leading edge of technology, to assure long-term competitive position. Operations: Manages process for continuous improvement in reliability, flexibility, and low cost. Leads the Salem Energy Sustainability Team and efforts to meet business goals

Job Requirements:

The ideal candidate should possess a Bachelor’s degree in Technical or Science and have technical knowledge & understanding of vacuum sputtering process. Understanding & adherence to all environmental health & safety requirements. Understanding & practical use of quality tools & systems.
Understanding and use of LEAN tools. Strong communication & supervisory skillsets. Ability to focus on customer requirements & work effectively with them. PLC, HMI or software code writing preferred. Responsible for all decisions on setup and operations of the Salem MSVD Coater as well as direction & development of all Coater Operators.
Ability to give Coater Operators performance evaluations and recommendations for promotions or termination. Ability to submit but not approve capital or expense ACT projects. Can purchase within limits specified in the Vitro Purchasing policy. Classification of plant produced product quality based on Vitro quality specifications. Shifts and work assignments for Coater Operators. Coater Maintenance Specialists- Responsible for maintenance & repair of critical coater equipment including cathodes & instrumentation. Glass Processors – Directs Glass Processor activities as needed to support coater operations.
Annual Pay Range: $80K - $ 110K
