Procurement Specialist Key duties:
- Exercises independent review and approval of requisitions/purchase orders/change orders and insures the validity of informal bid process and of sole/single source procurements through market analysis and research.
- Independently conducts category sourcing/researching vendors of the products/services/negotiating contracts to make purchasing easier and more efficient for client base.
- Serves as a subject matter expert for the category and is a resource for the university community.
- Works with the Strategic Sourcing team on data analysis and category industry opportunities.
- Assists with implementing procurement methodology and process for assigned category and communicates, educates and obtains support from key stakeholders throughout the University system.
- Ensures compliance with university guidelines, policies, and procedures.
- Develops and manages effective relationships with suppliers.
Procurement Specialist Required knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Purchasing, Supply Chain Management or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- 3 years of procurement experience.
- Must demonstrate the ability to work across category areas as required.
- Must demonstrate thorough understanding of procurement and possess the ability to work independently.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills including the ability to foster relationships while maintaining compliance with policies and procedures is required.
- Must be a team player and have the ability to balance multiple tasks at the same time.
- Must possess strong computer skills including proficiency with the Office suite of products.
- Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Must have strong project management skills and problem-solving abilities and a strong professional presence.
- Must have experience in working with automated purchasing system.

Pay: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour

- 8 hour shift
