Position: Product Owner – Business Intelligence

Job Description:

Forward Air is seeking a Product Owner – Business Intelligence to work in the IT department as part of our Enterprise Architecture & Data Analytics team. This position will be responsible for the Data Analytics portfolio and its systems initiatives to collaborate with the business leaders to deliver high-value data targets, identifying business user needs, communicating strategic objectives, managing releases, and overall vision. The Product Owner should have strong analytical skills with ability to translate visions into user stories; excellent verbal/written communicate skills covering technical and functional subjects; and strong desire to organize and drive projects across the finish line.

Prefer candidates who have experience with Data Analytics using Tableau (e.g., Building Dashboards, Reports, Workbooks, SQL Scripts, etc.) and other Data Analytics Tools.

Core Responsibilities & Duties:

• Acts as primary liaison between Business stakeholders and development team helping to align objectives, deliverables, and proper prioritization
• Design data extraction, staging, and loading to data warehouse processes to ensure that data is as consistent, clean, and as accurate as possible
• Creates user stories, establishes acceptance criteria, and manages development projects and backlog
• Drives project objectives and release content
• Facilitates & provides clear communications between technical requirements and product features
• Manages iterations to ensure meeting schedule and scope targets, with aptitude to adjust as necessary
• Works with other value stream Agile teams to determine interdependencies
• Develop reports in Tableau to interface with end users
• Documents project/work assignments to include all needed technical documentation such as source to target mappings, data sources, definitions, methodologies, contact information, output requirements or other information to ensure continuity of process
• Interprets data and associated deliverable (reports, dashboards, interactive reporting, charts, graphs, and tables) in plain business language for senior leadership team; develops statistical, economic, and financial analysis from data to evaluate performance and drive relevant business initiatives
• Develop technical documentation, including requirements documents, process overviews, data models and data flow
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• A bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent experience is required
• 8 + years of experience preferred in Business Intelligence Analytics using Tableau
• 8+ years of experience preferred with development and implementation of enterprise-level data warehousing and supporting business intelligence initiatives
• Report creation and maintenance using tools such as Tableau, SSRS, or Power BI
• Strong grasp of advanced SQL writing and query tuning/optimization
• 4-5 years of experience in business analysis, solutions development, creating business requirements and delivering business capabilities
• Data transformation and/or integration processing using ETL/ELT technologies
• Prefer professional certificate in Agile development (Scrum, Kanban, LEAN)
• Prefer 2 years of experience as part of a team using Agile methodology
