POSITION SUMMARY
The Product Designer and Drafter is responsible for performing detailed specifications and documentation of products through the creation and modification of mechanical product drawings. This position will observe confidentiality of all customer and company information.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Assumes full responsibility for the accurate and detailed documentation of mechanical products through the creation, modification and maintenance of product drawings.
- Checks drawings prepared by others for accuracy.
- Prepares drawings for distribution licensees and other authorized recipients and handles all transmittal functions.
- Maintains the drawing database to ensure organized computer based tracking of drawings.
- Maintains conventional velum and product history files as backup to electronic records.
- Provides drawing interpretation and support services for TPD engineers.
- Additional document and specification creation as may be required.
- Additional engineering support functions as may be required.
- Regular, timely attendance to meet customer/company needs in an efficient and effective manner.
- Performs special projects or assignments as directed.
KNOWLEDGE, DEMONSTRATED SKILLS & ABILITIES
Must possess extensive proficiency in AutoCAD and preferred proficiency in one other CAD platform (for example: Inventor). Must have a solid working knowledge of modern drawing requirements (Geometric Tolerancing preferred).
(LANGUAGES, EDUCATION, COMPUTER SKILLS, CERTIFICATION, LICENSES, EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS, AND ASSOCIATIONS)
A.S. degree in Computer Aided Drafting preferred and Design or equivalent experience required. Excellent organizational skills and attention to details required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office products particularly Word and Excel.
Scope Data/Working Conditions/Physical Demands
Details products as designed by TPD product engineers.
Performs detailed design of products under close supervision of TPD Engineers.
Performs filing and archiving of TPD product drawings.
Manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Working conditions are primarily office/desk with some light field activity.
Full time employment typically 7:30 to 4:30, M-F, Travel: Minimal to None.
Job requires extensive computer work involving much repetitive motion.
