Position Summary:

• Shift: 6:00 am – 4:30 pm; 1st Shift
• Monday – Thursday
• Location: 4439 S Buttermilk Ct, Hudsonville, MI 49426

Reporting to the Manufacturing Leader, the Production Operator Team uses custom blueprints to heat weld together sheets of woven polyethylene NovaShield Elite fabric to create the fabric covers for Britespan's steel framed, fabric covered buildings. This process includes:

• Testing the material and weld strength
• Daily set up and tool inspections
• Running machinery such as welders, grommet punch, pocket knotcher, keder, or sewing machine, lift trucks, etc.
• Perform tasks including the use of the measuring tape, cutting, sewing, and handling of materials
• Fabricate the covers, end and sidewalls, and components
• Complete quality inspections on own, and teams work; Team quality audits required on all in process and completed products produced
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
• Follow all safety procedures and watch for the well-being of fellow workers
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment at all times

Physical Demands:

This job is very physically demanding. The largest tool available is the floor which requires a great deal of squatting, kneeling, up and down motion. Additionally, operators will lift, push and pull material while on your feet for the full 10-hour shift.

Position Qualifications:

• Able to follow instructions
• Able to read a measuring tape
• Able to read blueprints and parts lists
• Excellent judgment and decision-making abilities
• 2+ years experience in a manufacturing plant is preferred
• Effective troubleshooting skills
• Able to work independently and as a team
• Good interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to use a computer for data entry
