Summary of Responsibilities
Provide leadership and accountability for personnel and productivity of assigned shift. Oversee and direct team members in a safe, quality-minded and productive manner to attain production priorities as scheduled. The production supervisor must possess excellent leadership and human relations skills, be decisive and responsible, and lead by example. The production supervisor must demonstrate a positive, can-do attitude and work toward continual improvement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Supervision areas include:
o Melt, Die Cast and X-Ray
o GP- 12
o Heat Treat, Restrike and CNC and inspection (including all machining line)
o Material Handling (in coordination with Materials department)
· Maintain effective communication with team members via pre-shift and individual meetings regarding company policies, procedures, work rules, process documentation and environmental regulations. Ensure all pre-shift meetings reflect Safety as a key component and priority.
· Follow the principles of the Magna Team member Charter
· Review all production objectives and coordinate objectives with production procedures in cooperation with department manager and other shift personnel to maximize product reliability and minimize costs
· Lead by example by wearing PPE at all times
· Supervision of team members to include training and development, communication and enforcement of company policies and procedures, performance coaching and evaluation, and written documentation of team member performance issues. Lead all team members to focus on zero defects
· Uphold confidentiality and build trust in Management
· Schedule and assign team members to appropriate tasks to achieve department daily production, quality and housekeeping goals
· Maintain an open and honest relationship with fellow team members and help develop this attitude; treat all team members with dignity and respect without favoritism
· Conduct yearly performance reviews in timely manner
· Schedule team member vacation and personal days per department guidelines and company policies
· Promote and practice “safety first” policy by addressing all hazards, defective equipment and unsafe conditions immediately
· Ensure team member safety awareness through training, pre-shift meetings, and individual consultation; strive for continuous improvement in injury reduction
· Act as lead investigator in all injury or incident investigations, ensuring completed investigation is handed into HSE team within 24 hours of occurrence.
· Conduct 1 Safety observation each week, support team leaders in completing his/her safety observations each week.
· Discipline team members per company policies and procedures
· Trouble shoot and obtain appropriate support to fix problems
· Recommend measures for and participate in continual improvement of quality methods, equipment performance, and product quality
· React and follow through with all quality issues to ensure that no defective products are shipped to customers
· Maintain effective communication and coordination with all internal customers, plant management and team members; maintain positive team member relations
· Provide accurate daily reports on machine uptime, pieces per hour, scrap percentage and accidents
· Handle confidential information on a regular basis
· Promote and facilitate Open Door process without reprisal, effective communication and Fair Treatment
· Adhere to customer requirements, Business Operating System and company policies
· Utilize and supervise Team Leaders; ensuring completion of checklists, reporting, production, manpower and training requirements
· Perform other duties as assigned

· Able to demonstrate understanding of how job performance affects product quality and customer satisfaction
· Able to work well with others; build and maintain positive team member relations
· Able to prepare, read and interpret written reports, instructions, procedures and guidelines
· Able to effectively present information and respond to questions from management, team members, suppliers and customers
· Able to maintain confidentiality, and use discretion and tact
· Able to work flexible hours and additional hours as needed
· Able to calculate figures and amounts, such as percentages and proportions
· Able to use computer and software as required
· Able to work under pressure of meeting schedules, personnel issues, production deadlines and managing multiple priorities
· Must be able to understand written instructions
Education and Experience Required
· High school diploma, GED or equivalent experience preferred
· Knowledge of departmental processes and procedures
· Supervision training preferred
· Quality control and SPC
Work Environment
· Includes office and manufacturing plant
· Must be able to perform all essential functions as appropriate on the plant floor, in meetings, and with employees of all departments, management, customers and suppliers
· Provide support for three shifts and weekend production schedule
· Flexible hours and able to work additional hours as required
