Compensation: $18.00-$23.72 per hour, plus $1.75 per hour Shift Differential Premium for hours worked between 6pm-6am
Schedule: Monday-Friday 10:00am-6:00pm
Status: 100%, Full-Time, Non-Exempt, Union
Probation:: 90 Days

DEPARTMENT SUMMARY: Mi Centro supports and uplifts the Latinx communities on the Eastside of Los Angeles and surrounding communities with a comprehensive range of health, social and cultural services. These services are culturally adapted, community-competent and bilingual (Spanish).
JOB SUMMARY: Reporting to the Mi Centro Program Manager, the program assistant will provide operational and administrative support for Mi Centro programming delivered by Center Departments.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1) Provide operational and administrative support for the department. This will, include efficient, professional operation of the office and work with various Center Departments (Legal Services, Senior Services, Health Services, Youth Services, etc.), providing coordination and assistance for the program manager and department staff;
2) Provide a welcoming environment for all clients and guests; assist with check-in and scheduling of appointments; provide accurate, timely information to clients and community partners seeking assistance; answer phones and direct calls as needed; and referral of clients to Center program staff when appropriate;
3) Provide data entry and database management, including data entry and scanning, tracking and record-keeping participation at Center events and program services at Mi Centro;
4) Collaborate with Mi Centro partner, Latino Equality Alliance, on joint events and other programming when appropriate;
5) Help manage Mi Centro’s social media presence (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, etc.);
6) Other duties as assigned;
JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
1) Knowledge of or experience working with the LGBTQ community and familiarity with issues of particular relevance to LGBTQ people and Latinx Communities in Boyle Heights and surrounding areas;
2) A passion for the Center’s work and its mission to make the world a better place for LGBTQ people;
3) Minimum of 1 year of general office experience;
4) Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as strong organizational, interpersonal, and time-management skills. Excellent attention to detail;
5) Excellent computer skills including word processing and database operations;
6) Self-motivated, energetic, flexible and able to work in a team environment;
7) Demonstrated ability to be compassionate and patient with diverse communities, including members of the undocumented community;
8) Ability to work well with direct supervisor and managers from other departments;
9) Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment;
10) Demonstrated ability to work discreetly and professionally with confidential materials;
11) Familiarity with undocumented communities;
12) Proficient in Spanish (reading, writing and speaking);
13) Access to reliable transportation and the ability to be insured;
14) Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people of diverse races, ethnicities, nationalities, sexual orientations, gender identities, gender expression, socio-economic backgrounds, religions, ages, English-speaking abilities, immigration status, and physical abilities in a multicultural environment.
