Job description

The full-time Direct Supervision Escort (DSE) Supervisor is responsible for providing the day-to-day supervision of the staff that provide the direct supervision and monitoring services for the clients in the community. These clients are on a community-based direct supervision program for clients located throughout the state of Wisconsin on Supervised Release (SR). Responsibilities include: recruiting, hiring, training, mentoring, reporting, and overall personnel management.


  • Oversees the day to day supervision, monitoring, and ensuring services of staff.
  • Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees; developing personal growth opportunities.
  • Accomplishes outcomes by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; conducting training; implementing systematic changes, enforces policies and procedures.
  • Ensures proper organization, handling and maintenance of client/program/employee and business records.
  • Manages programmatic operations to ensure service delivery, continuity, as well as achievement of contract goals and compliance.
  • Ensures accurate service information is provided to administration for billing processing.
  • Provides oversight, supervision, coverage, and DOC approved training to all staff assigned to the DSE contract.
  • Ensures that all programming and service delivery is conducted using evidence based approaches (i.e. Trauma-Informed Care, Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive-Behavioral Skill Building, etc.).
  • Occasional on-call duties for emergencies
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education & Work Experience:

  • High School Diploma required; Associates or Bachelors Degree in Human Services or Criminal Justice preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience providing services to:
    • Individuals who have committed sexual offenses; OR
    • Individuals in the criminal justice system; OR
    • Individuals with serious and persistent mental illness; OR
    • Individuals who have developmental disabilities.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience supervising, or leading and managing staff, preferably in multiple cities or locations.
  • Two years experience in scheduling escort and/or transportation services.
  • One year experience working cooperatively with other disciplinary agencies.
  • Completion of cultural awareness or cultural sensitivity training.
  • Valid Wisconsin drivers license, good driving record and proof of insurance.
  • Ability to travel statewide frequently.
  • Knowledge of the complex issues related to managing high risk clients in the community, including assessments, treatments, and safety/security issues related to servicing correctional clients.
  • Strong desire and ability to work with the identified population and effectively communicate and collaborate with multiple agencies and community partners as required.
  • Exemplary communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated initiative and flexibility.
  • Strong general business acumen.
  • Demonstrated supervisory skills including hiring, training, coaching, mentoring, evaluating, problem resolution and discipline.
  • Ability to establish, maintain, and coordinate effective working relationships will all levels of staff, clients, other agencies, provider groups and the general public.
  • Evidence of excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in the use of automated computer systems and Microsoft Office software programs.
  • Ability to maintain the utmost confidentiality of all agency information.
  • Self-motivated; ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated understanding and sensitivity to interactions with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Ability to exercise sound decisions and judgment.
