Albertville, MN - Full Time

Advanced Volumetric Alliance (AVA) is a volumetric off-site building manufacturer that creates entire buildings in a factory environment. AVA designs, engineers and manufactures industry-leading full volumetric modular units for the multi-family apartment and hospitality industries in the Upper-Midwest in a 180,000 ft2state of the art facility in Albertville, Minnesota.

Job Description:

The Construction Project Engineer will join the Project management Office (PMO), and primarily assist the Director of Construction in construction management duties which lead, manage and support the production and design teams. This role is expected to move into a Project Management role with 1-2 years given suitable performance.

  • Develop a comprehensive working knowledge and understanding of the contract documents including, but not limited to: plans, specifications, applicable codes, production drawings and technical details
  • Conduct thorough construction document reviews and examine all documents for constructability and Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC)
  • Review production drawing, submittals and schedules
  • Process RFI’s, submittals and substitution requests. Create and maintain applicable tracking logs.
  • Lead value engineering efforts and provide recommendations for alternate materials and methods.
  • Prepare a detailed contract items list including all significant items required for the construction of the project. Create material take-offs, quantities and equipment purchase timelines
  • Provide any technical and construction management support to the QA/QC, factory, BIM, and other project staff.
  • Attend daily factory floor meeting to determine production priorities and support as necessary
  • Maintain and update design, installation and QA/QC manuals
  • Ensure strict adherence to safety, ethics and compliance requirements at all times.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Bachelors degree plus minimum of two years’ related experience, Associates degree plus a minimum of four years’ related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.

Knowledge of estimating, construction costs, scheduling, purchasing, engineering principles and techniques including various building systems.

Strong computer skills particularly with Microsoft Office, and MS Project. Bluebeam experience preferred.

Demonstrated ability to thoroughly understand drawings and specifications, materials, means and methods. Very strong oral and written communication skills required, with good interpersonal skills.

Physical Demands:

Performance of the required duties will require the physical ability to stairs, climb ladders and negotiate work areas under construction. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Performing this job requires use of hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, sit, talk and hear, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works on-site at the construction work site where the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. The noise in these work environments is usually moderate to very loud.
