Our Community Event Interns play a key role in bringing that vision to life.
About The Iowa Wild:
The Iowa Wild are a professional ice hockey team in the American Hockey League that began their first season in the 2013-2014 season. The Wild play at the Wells Fargo Arena, located in Des Moines, Iowa. They are the AHL affiliate of the NHL’s Minnesota Wild.
Summary:
The primary purpose of this part-time position is to explore the sports industry by getting hands-on exposure from experienced full-time staff members. You will be assisting with game day operations and potential in-season events.
Duties and Responsibilities (included but not limited to):
- Assist in preparation and execution of pregame, in-game, and postgame promotional activities, including, but not limited to: setup/breakdown of equipment, contestant selection, activity monitoring, distribution of prizes/giveaways, and present for all home games during the 2022-23 season
- Mascot Handler: following our mascot, Crash, around the lower bowl in-game for safety and assistance
- Report two and a half hours before puck drop on game nights
- Bring the ENERGY, EXCITEMENT, and FUN, as you interact with fans as ambassadors to the Iowa Wild and Wells Fargo Arena.
- Provide excellent customer service to our fans
Qualifications:
- In pursuit of a degree in Sport Management/Marketing, Sales, or a closely related field
- Reliable transportation within the Des Moines area
- Ability to work a flexible schedule; nights, weekends, and holidays is required
- Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Works well in a team environment
- Ability to adapt in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment
- In accordance with the ADA the physical requirements for this role include sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing stairs, kneeling, twisting, lifting, grasping, etc. Should an accommodation be requested MSE will evaluate the request and provide reasonable accommodation in accordance of the ADA

For any questions you are uncertain of, you are relentless in your quest to get the answer quickly by asking questions to those around you and your leader.
Are a team player. Every member of the Iowa Wild staff wears many hats, and you love collecting hats. You may find yourself instructing kids on how to hold a hockey stick during a street hockey event, selling season tickets to a prospective fan, or becoming our mascot, Crash himself, while attending a charity walk event. The experience you can gain depends on how much you want to learn!
