Position Overview

The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner is responsible for managing the overall psychiatric care and treatment of assigned youth in short term acute crisis stabilization. The NP works closely with the treatment team and attends regular meetings to stay informed of all areas of clients’ treatment. The NP will provide ongoing psychiatric assessment and medication treatment. The NP will ensure treatment practices are in line with regulatory requirements, licensure, and evidence-based practice. The NP will commit to providing the highest quality of patient-centered care to IHC’s clients.

This is a full-time (Monday through Friday, ~8-4 or 9-5) position with an in-person/on-campus component.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Provide psychiatric assessment and ongoing medication management to assigned caseload of clients
• Attend weekly team and monthly medication review meetings and consult regularly with clinicians and other prescribers
• Complete required documentation and follow strict paperwork deadlines
• Maintain comprehensive and accurate documentation of clinical care
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team in the development/review of treatment planning and case assignment
• Communicate with collaterals at other agencies regarding client treatment and needs
• Provide on-call coverage for cases and vacation coverage for other prescribers’ cases
• Available during business hours for insurance reviews
• Respond to emergency situations with clients and families
• Apply and enforce policy and regulations

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

• Master’s Degree in Nursing
• Unrestricted and active Massachusetts licensure as an Advanced Practice Nurse
• ANCC certification as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner or Clinical Nurse Specialist
• A minimum of 2 years’ experience providing psychiatric evaluations and psychopharmacology management to children and adolescents with significant trauma histories
• Ability to understand and implement agency treatment philosophy
• Commitment to delivering high quality, patient-centered care
• Ability to make and implement timely and sound decisions in crisis situations
• Strong ability to accept and give critical feedback
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Familiarity with electronic medical record keeping
• Consistent and strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and adhere to deadlines
• Maintains calm and can perform in a stressful and fast paced environment
• Flexibility in action, thinking and scheduling
• Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills
• Skilled in working independently to carry out department and agency objectives
• Implementation of evidence-based practice and a commitment to continuing education

• Experience working with neuro-diverse individuals and individuals diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD)
