With general supervision, oversees all aspects of Flight Operations Publications including creation, revision, maintenance, publication, and distribution of electronic/written policies and procedures to effectively communicate and comply with Company and FAA policies, procedures, and regulations for publications for the Aircraft, Flight, Dispatch, and Maintenance Control manuals and documentation.
Essential Job Functions
- Coordinate revisions to electronic/written policies and procedures with Manager of Flight Standards, Flight Operations leadership, and others as needed.
- Maintain a company-wide standard layout format to effectively communicate current policies and procedures for areas assigned (see position summary).
- Establish and maintain consistent revision / alert bulletin procedures to effectively communicate current policies and procedures for areas assigned.
- Reviews submitted text changes to ensure established standards for formatting are followed consistently.
- Process, distribute, and track 30 plus publications for areas assigned. This includes creation and revision of manual contents including revision notices, manual status sheets, log of effective pages, table of contents, etc.
- Ensures that all associated revisions to manuals are done in cases where a text change in one manual affects other manuals.
- Ensure that all necessary materials and training are available for the publication and distribution of materials for areas assigned.
- Review and process manufacturer manual revisions for possible AWAC manual updates.
- Coordinate policy and procedure changes with other departments throughout the Company.
- Prepares revision requests and all associated paperwork for submission for regulatory approval.
- Liaise with the FAA Inspectors to gain acceptance / approval of flight and aircraft manuals and documentation.
- Maintain Company Operations Specifications to ensure they are in FAA compliance.
- In conjunction with the Safety Department, coordinate and liaison for Flight Operations Department corrective actions resulting from various inspections and audits including FAA, DOD, and IOSA. Interface with the auditors to close open items as applicable.
- Facilitate tracking of specific Aircraft, Flight, Dispatch, and Maintenance Control manuals to ensure proper distribution of manual revisions and alert bulletins to assure FAA compliance.
- Assists in Flight Operations Publication budgeting need identification and variance report explanations.
- Develops and maintains effective workflow processes to ensure accurate timely completion of all assigned development, revision, and maintenance of policies and procedures of areas assigned, including when to flex staffing to meet workload variability.
- Attendance is considered an essential responsibility.
- Adherence to all Company policies and procedures.
Education/Experience
- Associate degree with two years’ experience in technical publications is required.
- Demonstrated Adobe FrameMaker knowledge is required.
- Proficient in the use of Adobe FrameMaker, Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Suite and MS SharePoint document management. Adobe Certification preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise in technical writing as it relates to description of processes, practices, and policies to ensure that written/electronic text content is communicated as intended.
- Detail oriented with superior proofreading and analytical problem solving skills.
- Knowledge of system safety and quality programs such as ISO, IOSA, and ICAO.
- Proven interpersonal communication skills. Ability to work in a team without direct influence or independently to meet customer deadlines.
- Proven ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- Strong ability to work in a team environment and to help others assimilate into the team.
