Job purpose*

QA/Safety personnel carry out the day to day QA/Safety operations for Lyon’s Downriver Services ensuring Quality work is being done in production and there is a safe work environment for production employees.

  • Main tasks and responsibilities include developing POA&M’s, T&I plans, QA tickets, Heavy Weather plans, EMP’s, and conducting safety walk through.
  • Ability to understand technical documents, technical manuals, and drawings.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, manage time effectively and to identify work priorities in a constant changing environment.
  • Ensure QA procedures are adhered to within LDS, along with the best safety and Environmental practices.

Ability to understand technical documents, technical manuals, and drawings.

  • Experience with NAVSEA Standard Items, NMD, CR, RCC, FAR and DFAR requirements.
  • Attention to details, Strategic planning and the Analyzing of information
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, manage time effectively and to identify work priorities in a constant changing environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills. Ability to write reports and business correspondences.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Possess working knowledge of Shipyard production processes.
  • Full understanding of production planning and work sequencing processes.
  • Ability to identify new processes and procedures required by industry change.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and operate a motor vehicle with satisfactory driving records.
  • Must be able to acquire and keep a Security Clearance (DBIDS) and TWIC.

Work Environment
Work is regularly performed in outside weather conditions, including rain and extreme heat, near moving mechanical parts and includes occasional exposure to wet and/or humid conditions and to vibration.
This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Occasionally the work environment may be loud.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Position Type/ Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday. This position periodically requires long hours and weekend work. Regular and predictable on-site attendance is an essential function and a prerequisite to perform other essential functions of the position.

Travel is primarily local during the business day, although periodic out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.
Required Education and Experience

  • High school degree or equivalent.

Preferred Education or Experience
Education based on requirements that are job-related and consistent with the business necessity.

  • 3 years of shipyard experience in QA and knowledge of Safety and NDT.
