Job Summary
- Coordinate quality assurance activities.
- Provide technical assistance and training to personnel.
- Monitor and verify the HACCP plan’s CCPs.
- Assure documents required by regulatory are properly reviewed and filed.
- Conduct GMP and sanitation audits of operations and warehouse areas.
- Work with operations personnel on quality and safety issues.
- Verify operations control systems are functional and being followed.
- Place product on hold, release or disposition as needed.
- Evaluate and disposition for damaged products.
- Assist in trouble-shooting quality related issues. Including compressive investigation and preventive measures.
- Plan, organize, execute, train, and monitor plant sanitation crew, processes, and methods
- Plan and execute daily, weekly, and periodic plant wide cleaning and sanitation activity
- Develop and maintains the plant Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS), the Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs) per USDA regulations.
- Work with management for constant improvement of sanitation processes
- Conduct periodic plant inspections and audits, tracking progress of corrective actions
- Responsible for reporting any food safety issues to management.
- Work with the janitors.
Qualifications/ Education/Experience/Skills:
- B.S. degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry or related field strongly preferred.
- Minimum 3 years experience in Food Industry required with 1-2 years supervisory experience preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of laboratory activities to include microbiological testing not limited to APC, Coliforms, Salmonella, Listeria, Yeast and Mold, analytical testing to include but not limited to moisture, fat, pH, and water activity
- Thorough knowledge of Good Sanitation Practices (GSPs) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
- Working knowledge of SQF Standards for Food Safety or equivalent quality/food safety standards SQF Certification preferred.
- Excellent knowledge regulatory requirements USDA, AMS, FDA, and ODA
- Computer knowledge to include Microsoft Word, Excel and Access.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
