Job description
The QC Inspector is responsible for inspecting GMI products at various stages in the processes of manufacturing. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings as well as meeting standards set by the API and ISO Specifications.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
LANGUAGE/MATH/REASONING ABILITY
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
COMPUTER SKILLS
Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
Physical Requirements
Document storage and retrieval may require lifting boxes of documents, carrying documents from one place to another, and storing boxes on shelves or in file cabinets. This requires moderate physical activity performing somewhat strenuous daily activities of a primarily administrative nature.
Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally to lift, carry, pull, or otherwise move objects.
Handling documents and working on the computer requires repetitive motion.
Ascending or descending stairs, ramps and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms
Moderate physical activity performing somewhat strenuous daily activities of a primarily administrative nature.
Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items, works with the fingers, and perceives attributes of objects and materials.
Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less)
Distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more)
Color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors)
Working Environment
Office environment containing computers, printers, fluorescent lighting, etc.
Inside of office, no PPE required; low noise exposure and air conditioned.
Outside in the shop/warehouse: exposure to heavy machinery such as manual and CNC machinery, blasters, grinders, shavings bins, forklifts, and racks, etc.
On shop floor and in warehouse, PPE is required at all times; constant exposure to high noise level and high and low temperatures, depending on weather.
Minimal travel required, up to 10% by land or by air.
Normal work hours, Monday thru Friday.
Monitor product quality through visual and dimensional inspection techniques
Review incoming material certifications for compliance to established requirements
Interpret drawings, manuals, and customer/industry specifications
Verify and complete job router operations
Help monitor the serviceability and calibration of measuring equipment
Aid in maintaining calibration records and equipment checklists
Generation, processing, and closure of product nonconformance reports
Communicate with supervisor, production control, and other shop personnel for assignments and to resolve machining or quality issues
Keep equipment and work area clean and orderly and perform basic preventative maintenance functions on equipment
Identify and document system non-conformances and corrective actions
Move/handle materials using cranes, fork lift, or other manipulative means in a safe manner
Adhere to and comply with state and federal law, Quality System policies and procedures, and Safety and Environmental Regulations
Use and maintain approved personal protective equipment (PPE) including, but not limited to safety glasses/side shields, and hearing protection
Maintain a positive attitude and focus on continually improving the GMI Group Quality Management System.
