Under the supervision of the Director of New Student Services, the Recruitment & Intake Specialist will be responsible for building the visibility of Transfer and Pre-College programs and serve as the primary point-of-contact for prospective and enrolling students. The Specialist coordinates information on the programs, leads recruitment events, and supports students as they navigate completing their enrollment. In this role, you will closely work with the College Transfer Division, Basic & Transitional Studies, Welcome Center, and Guided Pathways Leads, to align objectives of structured support for student exploration and entry into college to ultimately impact increasing student completion rates.
At South, the identities of the students are layered. Students may come from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, identify as first-generation college students and/or non-traditional aged students who are shifting careers, speak English as a second language, be undocumented, or transitioning to work from a correctional facility. South is proud to be a designated Veterans Support campus, as well as an Asian American Native American Pacific Islander serving institution (AANAPISI) that is working to prioritize the learning needs of diverse populations. This is an exempt position that may be required to work afternoons, evenings, and weekends for outreach events.
This position is governed by a collective bargaining agreement with representation by AFT-SPS

What you will be working on:
Supporting the implementation of our new Welcome Center which focuses on exploring, enrolling, and onboarding new students to the college:
- Provide intake support for students exploring and pursuing a Transfer or Pre-College programs and track student progression through enrollment.
- Develop and facilitate on-campus, off-campus, and remote events recruiting students interested in Transfer or Pre-College programs including interactive presentations, workshops, information sessions, open houses, events, college fairs, and campus tours.
- Increase Transfer or Pre-College program's visibility by developing outreach resources and partnerships with community, businesses, local affinity groups, K-12 school districts, South Seattle College colleagues, and Seattle Colleges District colleagues.
- Update and develop outreach messages, CRM messages, and program webpage content in collaboration with the Communications Department, Transfer programs, and Basic &Transitional Studies Departments.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders: Transfer Faculty and Staff, Basic &Transitional Studies, Educational Opportunity Center, Advising, Enrollment Services, and the Communications departments.
- Communicate Transfer and Pre-College program updates, enrollment data, and enrollment pathways to the college campus and community partners.
- Actively participate in recruitment and enrollment committees, program meetings, and professional development days.
- Develop and maintain data collection to provide regular reports on inquiring students, referral resources, barriers to enrollment and enrollment numbers.
- Act as a professional, student-centered representative of South Seattle College at all internal and external functions.
What you bring as a candidate: (Any Equivalent Combination of Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education and Experience)
- Associate Degree or at least 4 years experience in outreach at a high school, college, college access organization, non-profit, or business
- Knowledge of Transfer Degrees and affiliated college programs
- Strong written communication skills
- Demonstrated excellence in public speaking
- Knowledge of marketing and advertising strategies
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Experience leading and implementing complex events
- Strong cultural competency skills with experience working with highly diverse, underrepresented populations
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
- Strong time management and organizational skills with ability to readily handle multiple tasks, regular interruptions, and changing work assignments
- Demonstrated skill using Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Ability to perform range of physical motions of exertion: lifting and/or carrying up to 25 pounds; standing, walking, sitting for long periods of time, kneeling, squatting, and stooping; and traversing up and down stairs
- Current driver's license and transportation
