Job Summary
As a member of the technical staff, the Refrigeration Engineering Manager is responsible for performing design activities in support of developing modular TIAC (Turbine Inlet Air Cooling) Plant, CHP, Mission Critical and District Cooling Plant up to full production. This includes specification reviews, Refrigeration calculations and selections to meet code, and client requirements; conduct design reviews; coordinate with other disciplines, client and fabrication for production; the Refrigeration Engineering Manager will also be responsible for technical support of all products currently in production and development.
Essential Functions:
- Undertake engineering and design work under the supervision of Senior Engineers and the Business Development Team
- Accomplish tasks within the company procedures, specifications, standards and any project specific addenda.
- Development and definition of cooling (refrigerant) cycles and airflow systems to meet requirements of energy consumption, robustness (temperature, humidity), noise, cost, application flexibility and other product engineering goals.
- Perform calculations and data analysis to accurately predict to impact product design decisions
- Prepare design deliverables including datasheet, specification, schedules, diagrams to enable procurement, supply, fabrication, installation and construction to take place.
- Support and organize vendor technical clarification meetings.
- Provide engineering expertise, focusing on definition of refrigeration cycles and airflow, including design of systems and components.

Work Environment
Most work is performed in an office environment. Regular trips to the fabrication shop for observation and support may be necessary which may require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, steel-toed boots, and head protection.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds.
The employee must be able to bend, climb, stoop, or stretch as required to examine fabricated components at the site or fabrication shop.
Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Travel
Anticipated 20% travel for this position. Some occasional local day travel may also be necessary.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor of Science degree in engineering (mechanical preferred) from an ABET accredited university.
- Minimum of ten years of experience in supporting the design of industrial refrigeration facilities.
- Familiar with local and international codes and standards, regulations and implementations.
- Familiar with engineering deliverables
- Excellent understanding of applicable IEC, U/CSA, DOE/EPA/AHAM Standards
- Knowledge about cooling technology and theoretical and practical heat transfer/thermodynamics
Preferred Education and Experience
- Master’s degree in Engineering (mechanical preferred) from an accredited University.
- Knowledge in application of CFD flow simulation results
Work Authorization
Must be authorized to work in the United States.
