Organization Description

Memphis Mental Health Institute (MMHI) is a psychiatric hospital that has been serving the Memphis community since 1962. Hospitalizations are on a voluntary or involuntary basis, or patients can also be referred by the court system for pre-trial evaluations. The hospital offers 2 short-term care units for a total of 55 beds. The mission of Memphis Mental Health Institute is to provide a therapeutic environment centered on compassion and quality care for each individual we serve. It is the vision of MMHI to be recognized for providing person-centered psychiatric care in a therapeutic, supportive, and compassionate environment.

Summary of Position

As a Registered Nurse 2, you will be responsible for:

• Nursing assessment and diagnosis
• Monitoring patient care throughout the assigned shift
• Following hospital nursing policies and procedure manuals
• Immediately upon receipt of verbal or written notification from physician, assist with patient discharge/leave process
• Daily and throughout shift, share information with hospital staff by verbal and/or written communication according to hospital/nursing policies and procedures
• Conduct patient chart audits daily for each patient on assigned unit and immediately correcting all transcription errors and/or flagging omissions for 100% accuracy
• Transcribe, prepare, and administer medications according to physician’s orders; document appropriately
• Monitor hospital-wide activities to assist in the identification, prevention, and control spreading of infections
• Provide required training to assigned individuals according to the training schedule with appropriate documentation
• Throughout assigned shift, promote a safe environment for patients and staff through early detection and early intervention to assist in preventing crisis situations
• Follow policy and procedure when seclusions or restraint are ordered by the physician

Education / Experience

Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Tennessee and experience equivalent to one year of nursing

Or

Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Tennessee with education equal to a bachelor’s or graduate degree in nursing

Experience:

• Nursing: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:

• BLS Certification (Preferred)
• RN License (Required)
