Overview:
Exciting Opportunity to work in the Speech and Language Department as a Rehabilitation Aide!

The Rehabilitation Aide for speech-language pathology will support therapy providers and assist in patient care activities under direct supervision of a licensed clinician within the policies and procedures of the Institute, the departmental program, and in accordance with laws and regulations of the State of Maryland. The Rehabilitation Aide will assist clinical staff in the provision of patient care programs and perform supportive tasks, including those serving the administrative, maintenance and operational needs of the program.
Responsibilities:
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Prepare, maintain, and clean patient evaluation/treatment areas before and after sessions. Adhere to Institute’s policies regarding patient and staff safety, hygiene, patient privacy and patient-specific and standard/universal precautions.
  • Assists in patient-centered activities by setting up for, and cleaning up after, evaluation and therapy sessions, creates client-centered therapy projects and seasonal activities, and executes other similar tasks under close guidance of the supervising therapist.
  • Greet, comfort, and assist patients during arrival, guiding through therapy areas, and departure to aid in transitions.
  • Charge and maintain technology for clinician/patient use including iPads, communication devices, Cyracom towers, and digital audio recorders.
  • Maintain program supplies for testing, telehealth, toy library, pantry, and test closets, including ordering, inventory control, labeling, and storing supplies for all therapy areas. Participate in maintenance, organization, care, cleaning, transport, tracking, scheduling and safe storage of supplies. Identify and correct/report quality control problems, such as removal and coordination of repair of broken equipment, or environmental hazards.
  • Actively participate in supervisory meetings and assist department to execute tasks related to preparing for regulatory review and performance improvement projects.
Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must possess and maintain CPR certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross within 3 months of training/date of hire.
  • Trach/vent trained within three months of training/date of hire.


EDUCATION:

  • High School Graduate/ GED required.
  • Associates degree preferred.
  • Enrollment in health occupation curriculum, certification, or academic program is preferred.


EXPERIENCE:

  • Previous experience in a hospital or clinical setting preferred.
  • Experience working with or treating children or adults with developmental or acquired disabilities preferred.
